Inside The Beast - Insider's look at FAUX News - scathing report
about how the network is run. Linked thru Atrios: <http://atrios.blogspot.com/>

link: <http://poynter.org/forum/?id=letters>

<snip> "My advice to the pundits: If you really want to know about bias at Fox, talk to the grunts who work there - the desk assistants, tape editors, writers, researchers and assorted producers who have to deal with it every day. Ask enough of them what goes on, promise them anonymity, and you'll get the real story."

excellent article about FAUX

4. Atrios is widely read by Washington insiders, at least I was told
that once, so I would assume most of the other cable and network news people have seen this. Let's see if we start seeing this person who wrote the article start showing up on CNN or MSNBC or the Big 3.

2. Heh, heh. O'Reilly - waiting for some pithy comments....
And BTW - what happened to that apology for that pesky little WMD problem. What's it been - six months? IIRC, you were going to apologize to the American people, and 'never trust the Bush administration again'.

3. One wonders where "The Memo" actually originates
Could it be from the nimble fingers of one Karl Rove? No wonder everyone at the whitehouse is clueless about reality. They are living in a giant feedback loop. They dictate the party line to Ailes and then it comes right back at them through the "official" whitehouse/GOP news agency.

6. If someone could find a way to get a copy of what Rove sends
to Ailes (we all know he gets them from Rove), this could blow FAUX right out of the water and into the ditch where they belong.

Ayone who works at FAUX, do you think you can do it and help save our country?

5. I always hated that Chris Wallace
and now I have more reason to. Jerk :puke:

Unfortunately, I don't think this former employee's revelations will change anything: the repugs don't care if the news is biased, as long as it tells them what they want to hear. Those of us with brain cells will continue to stay away.

7. I never liked his smirk whenever I saw him on TV....
and now that he is going to FAUX, I dislike him even more.

And welcome to DU. :hi:

10. if you're comparing fox news to abc, nbc, and cbs
you're stupid, because network tv always outperforms cable tv, with the exception of sporting events held on cable. If you're comparing Fox News with the likes of CNN and MSNBC, well your line is wrong, even though it defies reality, Bill O'Reilly's show is the highest rated "news" show on cable.

If you're comparing network fox to the network channels, it's not a news channel, it's a shitty show distributer with some football attached.

9. This deserves a kick
Not once in the 20+ years I had worked in broadcast journalism prior to Fox - including lengthy stays at The Associated Press, CBS Radio and ABC/Good Morning America - did I feel any pressure to toe a management line. But at Fox, if my boss wasn't warning me to "be careful" how I handled the writing of a special about Ronald Reagan ("You know how Roger feels about him." ) , he was telling me how the environmental special I was to produce should lean ("You can give both sides, but make sure the pro-environmentalists don't get the last word." )

Editorially, the FNC newsroom is under the constant control and vigilance of management. The pressure ranges from subtle to direct.
