From the Huffington Post, Walter Cronkite shares his views on the drug war: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/walter-cronkite/telling-the-truth-about-t_b_16605.html

1. Only people safely tucked behind the walls of yuppie suburbs
can possibly escape the consequences of the stupid and failed war on drugs.

Kudos to Cronkite for pointing out some of the reality.

Walter's standard of telling it like it is regardless of where the chips may fall needs to be emulated in our media. Journalism needs someone like Walter to step into the spotlight and broadcast news without spin, or bias. This man could explain to average Americans what was going on and how they would be affected. He is a living National Treasure. I wish he was more vocal about current events. That would be a show I would never miss.

4. You know those conservative repukes. They can get behind
government agencies that spread drugs and use them to finance their black ops, but they want to jail or exectute the guys at the end of the deal, the users. Who, sometimes truly wouldn't have been doing a deal if they weren't trapped or pressed by a DEA agent or narc agent who if he wasn't in uniform would be in a jail someplace himself.

There is a guy in Michigan or Minnesota (can't remember) who was pressured by a drug gestapo agent into introducing him to a buyer. They kid had never done coke before. He was pressured into doing it AND THE AGENT DID IT WITH HIM. Long story short? He was sentenced to life without parole at the age of 21. The cop, who is the one who really should be behind bars, probably got a promotion. I wish I could find the details of this case. It's really bothered me for years.

I hope one of you guys know what I'm talking about.
