It does not plan to conduct its own investigation into possible violations of law by the executive branch, with regard to the NSA's warrantless eavesdropping on U.S. citizens.
2.
It is planning to pass legislation that rubber stamps the Bush administration's actions, after the fact -- likely killing any chance of independent, outside investigation.

Please do not bother to oppose the current administration in their quest for absolute, dictatorial powers. Democracy is for wusses and it is really important that the president be able to spy on American citizens without judicial oversight or any silly Congressional meddling. Otherwise, the administration would be greatly inconvenienced in their quest to gain private information which can be used in the future to blackmail any silly wusses that oppose absolute dictatorship.
