Hello everyone, this is Michele Gregory, Stephen Heller's wife. Once again, Stephen and I thank you for all of your help and support. Your encouragement and kind words have been invaluable to us in this very difficult and frightening time.

As you know, Stephen has been charged with some very serious crimes for allegedly blowing the whistle on Diebold Election Systems. He has pleaded innocent to all charges. He needs the very best legal defense, but criminal defense attorneys are very expensive. So far, starting in August of 2004, we have covered Stephen's legal bills with our personal savings and by taking a second mortgage on our house. Our savings are now gone, and our credit is strained.

And so, with the help of some friends, I have started the Stephen Heller Legal Defense Fund and corresponding website.

Whether or not you are able to donate, please pass the website around to everyone you know. Stephen's lawyer has said that public awareness of his situation will be beneficial to his defense.

Action Alert! Donate goods/services for Silent Auction for Steve Heller legal defense fund

Hello everyone, Steve Heller here. A very dear friend of Michele's and mine is planning an April 23 benefit party for my legal defense fund, and one of the events at the party will be a silent auction. I am writing to ask if anyone can donate, or arrange for a donation, of an item or service for the silent auction.

The item or service could be almost anything of value. For instance, a friend of mine works at a fancy hotel, and he is going to ask the hotel management to donate a night's stay for 2 people. Other examples could be a meal for 2 at a restaurant, some interesting Hollywood memorabilia or a work of art you have and might be willing to part with, tickets to a show you are in or involved with, an acting or voice coaching class (since most of my friends are in "the biz", "biz-related" items and services would be welcome), movie passes, a gift certificate, or almost any item or service that you or the company you work for would be willing to donate for auction. If the item doesn't sell at auction, you'd get it back.

So if you check around and come up with something concrete, a definite donation of an item or service to the silent auction on April 23, please let me know asap.
