Who Are Your Favorite Real Life Superheros?
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 11:04 PM by GOPS Worst Fear
You know..the ones who we yell out loud about and pride ourselves in saying to the world,"They are my hero!" As a near 50 year old male, here's my list. Not surprising to this liberal, all are women!By the way..I am also a white male.

1.Helen Thomas
2.Erin Brockovitch
3.Former Texas Gov. Mrs. Ann Richards
4.Coretta Scott King
5.Shirley Chisholm
6.Rosa Parks
7.Liberal Talk Show Host Randi Rhodes
8. Congresswoman,Cynthia McKinney
9. Barbra Lee Caliornia Congresswoman
10. Barbra Jordan Congresswoman

All these women have one thing in common. They are all truthseekers because they are all honest people who know how important TRUTH is.Yes, many here on the list are dead now. But all are good people who made or make our world a better place to live.

5. my own personal favorite has always been Pete Seeger . . .
who spent the vast majority of his life using his music in support of causes like civil rights, opposing war, and protecting the environment . . . at a HUGE cost to him and his family, I might add . . .

someone who did what's right BECAUSE it's right . . . a lesson our political "leaders" should learn . . .

6. I love all your choices, especially Helen. I add some guys and
dolls. Some big wielders like Bono, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandan, Martin Sheen. And how about Cindy Sheehan, Barbara Boxer, John Conyers, Sybil Edmonds and her fellow whistleblowers, and my always favorite Al Gore (I'm a big environmentalist.) John Kennedy, Jr is also out there. And all the little, unknown working so hard to get rid of these crud sticking to the bottom of our shoes.

7. Carl Sagan...but he is dead now
To be quite honest, perhaps it was for the best.

Why would I say such a thing? Because he died before witnessing the Fall of Free America on 12-12-2000. He did not have to live with the shame and disgrace of the current Imperial Subjects of Amerika, which will echo as disgracefully through the eons of history as the greatest abdication of freedom and responsibility since Germany 1933.

Besides, could a man with that much integrity have kept silent in the face of what is going on today in the Empire?

He was therefore spared the indignity of being Wellstoned or waterboarded at Gitmo.

9. Mine...
Most will not know mine, and that is OK, but because of their 'heroics' I am who I am today.

  1. My mother
  2. Harvey Milk
  3. The Daughters of Biltis
  4. Yitzak Rabin
  5. Anwar Sadat
  6. Harry Hay
  7. MLK, Jr.
  8. JFK
  9. David Ben-Gurion
  10. The rioters at the Stonewall Inn

A few of mine were struck down by assassins, but it didn't extinguish their light. And, as famous as most are on my list, no one is a greater superhero(ine) in my life, than my mother (but, I am gay and Jewish, so one knows how much we love our moms! :)).

My late father who passed from this world a month ago at the age of 86 y.o.
