The Right and the Left, in a Nutshell
I can't believe there's no discussion thread for this article. Dr. Partridge has written here one of the finest explanations of modern, progressive liberalism versus regressive, so-called "conservatism" that I have yet read. Though longer, I think it vies with JFK's definition of a liberal.

Please read and share this important essay!

1. Wasn't much of a nutshell...
Want a nutshell?

Conservatives ask "what about me?"

Liberals ask "what about them?"

There's your nutshell.

It WAS, on the other hand, a very good article.

of it on C-SPAN. Something about an ELEPHANT.

Basically, in a nut shell, it said that there are two views of a father. One is naturing, kind, and says you need to take responsibility for your actions and you need to help your fellow man in this journey we call life and the world is basically a good place. This is Libs.

The other father figure says, You have to carefully, The world is a cruel place and you better take care of yourself because no one else is going to do it for you. This is the Cons.

The author then goes on to describe how all of the issues (gun control, abortion, anti-social programs, ...) all result from these views.

I wish I can find this book. It brought real clarity.

5. Don't Think About An Elephant
The thesis of the book is the difference on how liberals and conservatives frame social issues. Very worthwhile read.
