Cdns on patrol in Afghanistan need patience

By LES PERREAUX
PADA, Afghanistan (CP) - If this is war, then war is a journey in the southern Afghan hills smashed by a blast that strikes like a rogue thunderbolt on a rainless day. This war is a helicopter ride over rocky mountain ridges with a machine-gun nervously chattering at unseen enemies.

It's a war where a simple drive in the country turns into a tense ordeal from the most mundane perils - a flat tire, a stuck jeep, a fender bender.

War is waiting and drinking tea, then running and waiting some more.

They're going after the Taliban, a group that some say have been defeated two years ago. Yet another lie from George W. Bush!
