Sometimes Sylvester just nails the folly of the religious right. I think it may be because he was raised in a fundamentalist seventh day adventist family and saw the destructive effect of fundamentalist religion at an early age. Nevertheless, occasionally, he writes a column like this one that skewers the right wing whackos in such a subtle, beautiful way, you have to read it:
