Dump Cheney for Condi, Bush urged
The Sunday Times April 23, 2006

Dump Cheney for Condi, Bush urged
Sarah Baxter, Washington
REPUBLICANS are urging President George W Bush to dump Dick Cheney as vice-president and replace him with Condoleezza Rice if he is serious about presenting a new face to the jaded American public.

They believe that only the sacrifice of one or more of the big beasts of the jungle, such as Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld, the defence secretary, will convince voters that Bush understands the need for a fresh start.

The jittery Republicans claim Bush’s mini-White House reshuffle last week will do nothing to forestall the threat of losing control of Congress in the November mid-term elections.

1. Replace Snoozy with Sleazy?
Might give Bush the media hoopla he needs to distract people from his considerable failures.

But in the long run, I don't think it helps his second term much.

4. Both criminals I agree. Just for starters...
Cheney used state secrets to get back at Wilson.
Condi leaked classified info to AIPAC.

Treason and Espionage. Just the behavior that Bushco looks for in a VP.

7. Here's what Bush SHOULD DO!
Fire Cheney and appoint Howard Dean VP. Think of all the democrats who would support that!
Then there would be no chance he would be impeached, right? Ha ha ha ha ha! Well, maybe not today.

8. how can Bush possibly "dump Cheney"??
Cheney was *elected*, not appointed. The only way to force Cheney out is to impeach him.

10. Agreed.
Many in "the base" would not like it. That's the problem with cultivating Southern (and Western and Northern) fundamentalists as your base. Many of them--not all to be sure--but many of the "angry white man as head of the household just as God ordained" would not like this move at all.

13. A black as #2
the facts speak very loud, this country was founded on racism, and haven't progressed to the point where we will accept a black vice president. As long as white men make the decisions about who will govern this country, blacks will remain second class citizens.

11. Just as several of us predicted many months ago, there is a good
chance that Bush will replace Cheney with a GOPer who will grease the skids for another 8 years of GOP mayhem, starting in 2008. I sincerely believe this will happen, in order to give the new VP "experience" and thus an easy entre into the prez contender spot against all those "inexperienced" dems who will run.

Having said that, if Bush puts Condi in the VP spot (and I really don't think this will happen), she will be put forth as the perfect VP for whomever is chosen to run as GOP nominee as prez. MOST of the base will accept this, for several reasons:

1. She's not in the presidential spot, she's the "helpmeet" of the prez, and all these biblethumpers can accept that. The VP is like a wife.

2. Untold numbers of those black-hating, racist white yahoo men secretly dream of screwing black women as practically their birthright as the great-grandsons of slaveowners, so they will literally jerk off to the whole idea that Bush is getting some. Don't believe me? Ask some black sex workers. Or anyone who rents out porn videos.

3. The GOP base can pat themselves on the back for being more "progressive" than even those damn dems, who have been hounding them for ages about being racist, sexist pricks!

4. The GOP base can't think 5 minutes ahead of itself unless it's about the effing rapture, so they won't consider that Condi could actually become president if the prez dies. So that's off their radar screen.

Anyway, it would be a stroke of genius for Bush to do this, so I don't think it will happen. And remember, if the dems put a black woman forward for P or VP, we would be pandering. If the GOP does it, it's because the GOP is enlightened and believes in freedom for all. :sarcasm:

14. this won't fool the left and middle, and racist right will rebel
condi is a toady and will pursue the same policies Bush does only with an honor student's nerdy ernestness as opposed to Bush's shit-eating frat boy sloppiness.

The result will be the same, but the process will be even more transparent with Condi as the visible leader--it will be more obvious someone else is really calling the shots.
