9/11 Conspiracy Theorists Are Building Their Case Against the Government From Ground Zero

....It was a year before David Ray Griffin, an eminent liberal theologian and philosopher, began his stroll down the path of disbelief. He wondered why Bush listened to a child's story while the nation was attacked and how Osama bin Laden, America's Public Enemy No. 1, escaped in the mountains of Tora Bora.

He wondered why 110-story towers crashed and military jets failed to intercept even one airliner. He read the 9/11 Commission report with a swell of anger. Contradictions were ignored and no military or civilian official was reprimanded, much less cashiered...."There was massive complicity in this attack by U.S. government operatives."

If that feels like a skip off the cliff of established reality, more Americans are in free fall than you might guess. There are few more startling measures of American distrust of leaders than the widespread belief that the Bush administration had a hand in the attacks of Sept. 11 in order to spark an invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.

A recent Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll of 1,010 Americans found that 36 percent suspect the U.S. government promoted the attacks or intentionally sat on its hands. Sixteen percent believe explosives brought down the towers. Twelve percent believe a cruise missile hit the Pentagon.

Distrust percolates more strongly near Ground Zero. A Zogby International poll of New York City residents two years ago found 49.3 percent believed the government "consciously failed to act."...

and curiosity to criminal and other hard investigations- and accountability.

Instead we received the swill and fairy tales of full cover up from the failed caretakers on down to the lapdog fourth estate. The insistence upon truth limiting, upon impure fantasy began here not with the truth-seekers who proposed theories with the facts that could be gleaned. The concern by the one is CYA and exploitation and brainwashing. The concern by the others is truth. When the Establishment side fails to win hearts it gets nasty and attacks the questioners in every way conceivable and then attacks the public for not buying the official version. When the pursuit of truth is blocked some conspiracy proponents get locked into siege mentality and through frustration mixed with growing popular success settle too soon into the faith stage, into therapeutic communal helplessness, when it is always the wall of secrecy that must be attacked and attacked with power.

5. The credibility of many of the 9/11 truth movement leaders

comes through nicely.

There are presidential cabinet-level Republicans who believe it was an inside job.

Let that sink in.

6. The real problem is that there has never been an honest,

professional, impartial, criminal investigation of this mass murder. Literally tons of evidence was unbelievably destroyed or vanished with no good reason as to why this was done. Those two facts - and they are facts - are enough to make any person with neutral motives ask questions. And it is the way these questions are answered - or ignored - that brings on the first glimmers of doubt and anger. Everything else stems from these two facts. Everyone should want to get to the bottom of this...

retracted the aritcle claiming that 6 of the hijackers had been found alive. Anyone have any info on this?
