MORE than 90 per cent of Australians believe Guantanomo Bay detainee David Hicks deserves a fair trial without delay, a Newspoll survey has show.

"In addition, the survey suggests Australians are deeply at odds with the federal government's ongoing wait-and-see approach, finding that 90 per cent believe David Hicks should be tried as soon as possible," GetUp executive director Brett Solomon said in a statement.
"And since our Government won't stand up for the right to a fair trial, thousands of Australians are now taking the unprecedented step of sending personal appeals to the US President, demanding justice for David Hicks."
