Security takes aim at elderly
By Dave Zweifel, Sept. 13, 2006
A story in this month's edition of the AARP Bulletin provides yet another example of how the current administration in Washington does the bidding of special interests at the expense of the American citizen.
.............
No, the reality is that under the guise of homeland security, the government is actually protecting American pharmaceutical corporations, ensuring that they can continue to get the higher prices charged at home. Those corporations, after all, have been lining our politicians' pockets for years and have an especially tight headlock on this administration.
There's a bill pending in Congress that would order Homeland Security to stop this practice, something that George Bush himself could do if he wanted.
But don't hold your breath that something will be done.
These "compassionate conservatives" who control government these days would rather help the big corporations than do something that might actually benefit the ordinary citizenry.
