My letter ripping Bush in Joliet Herald
Issues need clarifying

In regard to Dave Leja's (Dec. 29) letter to the editor (Bush acted correctly) I'm not exactly sure where to begin correcting Dave's inaccuracies and GOP talking points.
First of all, who was embarrassed by Clinton's adultery? Newt Gingrich's first wife? His first mistress/second wife? Or maybe his second mistress/third wife? Henry Hyde's mistress of 20 plus years? Rush Limbaugh's numerous wives/mistresses or oxycontin suppliers?

Secondly, Dave claims that Bush has done nothing illegal and that all three branches of government have been involved with his actions. Bush violated the law concerning the FISA court with his illegal wire tapping. Bush decided on his own that the FISA law wasn't applicable to the president. This despite the fact that the FISA law was specifically written to stop the abusive and illegal wire tapping committed by one of our presidents. The law was intended to make the president go to a secret court and acquire a warrant for any wire taps deemed too sensitive for normal courts. Bush ignored the law and has yet to provide satisfactory justification for doing so. Need I mention all the lies Bush provided to Congress and the American people concerning the justifications for the Iraq War? The GOP House and Senate ignored Bush's crimes. Let's hope the Dems (who haven't taken control of Congress yet, Dave) won't.

Thirdly, getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar and then telling the other branches what you're doing is not "consultation," it's called a confession. And Dave, the Justice Department is not another branch of government, its part of the Executive Branch. Technically, Bush should've consulted the Judicial Branch prior to committing his crimes.

It's too bad Dave is so wrong on so many more points that I can't fit all the corrections in just one letter.

14. Nope,
Live in Oakland, CA, originally from Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I read your letters when you post them on DU. Have you considered submitting to the NY Times, Wa Po, etc.?

15. yes
I have submitted to them occassionally. Never published though. I've had many published in the Chicago papers, Trib and Suntimes. Once in the Atlanta Journal Constitution and once in the Wall Street Journal. I also had one of my letters read on CNN's Crossfire. And my family Christmas cards always have something in them ripping the Bush Crime Syndicate.

16. And that's the beauty
of grassroots politics. There's a whole cafeteria's worth of actions we can take, one person at a time. Your talent is definitely in letter-writing, and in disseminating information far and wide.

13. You got right to the heart of the problem: Dave is too stupid to understand
what he's trying to discuss. He has it completely wrong, and his points are simply gibberish.
That's usually the way it goes, isn't it? What a shame they've never learned to pay enough attention to the facts.

Dave will grind his teeth to powder, and it will be a learning experience for him.

Way to go.

that there was a president like Bill Clinton who had an active sex life ie: no hang-ups makes for a more adjusted person !
