woman who accused George W Bush of rape
Our freedom of press:
Snip
Despite the enormity of the story, a virtual news blackout has remained in place since Margie Schoedinger first filed charges against George W Bush in 2002. Schoedinger had accused Bush of rape and other sexual crimes against both her and her husband, only one publication in the USA saw fit to print anything about her or her allegations. That publication was her local newspaper.

Her subsequent suicide earlier this year raised many eyebrows amongst those who learned of her death via the internet. Even though the sequence of events was bizarre, again the American media ignored Schoedinger completely.

However, the US press were not alone. Both the (London) Times newspaper and the BBC as well as other major news organisations in the UK were furnished with the story and sources for the original court filings. This should have garnered some attention for the story from the big media sources, if only to ridicule the allegations. Instead, in the same way the American media served its audience a stream of controlled news, so too did the British media by pretending Schoedinger didn't exist.

1. I, for one, have a very difficult
time believing it really was suicide. I put NOTHING past the reich wing and the Bushistas, nothing at all, and it would have been nothing to them to have had her "taken care of."

And why the blackout, anyway? If this had been Clinton or any other Dem, we'd have never heard the end of it, that's all that would have been on the news.

2. I thought I read...............
that this woman had serious mental problems and that nothing she said could be believed. I'm not trying to support Bush, but from what I understand the woman was totally unbelievable.

3. yes, absolutely. She was completely unstable...
...Ok, you've got a conspiracy.....that must have involved every publication from National Review to Mother Jones, Newsweek, Time, every newspaper in the country...every broadcast outlet....all of them?

no, the woman was mentally ill.

that's not to say i don't believe Bush is incapable of having someone knocked off for being inconvenient. i just don't believe every news organization in the western world (except one, well, two) agreed to follow the Bush code of omerta. they looked it over and backed away because the only story there was of a sad, disturbed woman.

4. just think for a moment what would have happened with this story . . .
exact same circumstances . . . if the president in question was Bill Clinton . . . would have been page 1 in every paper in the country, if not the world . . .
