In response to Gerry Warnes' Dec. 12 letter, "A low blow to political discourse," about Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's use of the f-word, I ask you, which is the lower blow:
A senator stating that the president "effed" up his war plans, which is painfully obvious to most of us?
Or criticizing the use of profanity by a Vietnam veteran who has fought and risked his life for his country, and won the Bronze Star with Valor and the Silver Star for heroism, as well as three Purple Hearts for being wounded three times, and who, after his service was up, fought the U.S. Congress for better treatment of veterans?
I don't like the campaign Kerry is running, but I'd never criticize his character. He laid his life on the line for the love of his country. As far as I'm concerned, he can throw around all the f-words he wants.
