America yawns as President Bush committed treason by funding al Qaeda

By Mary MacElveen

March 5, 2007

In reading a wonderful piece by Linda Milazzo when she attended a Q&A for Senator John Edwards, it was this quote from Senator Edwards that I zeroed in on. “Don't tell me Americans don't care. They do care. But they have to be asked to do more than go shopping. In the words of Ghandi, 'We have to be the change that we believe in.' That's what we have to be. And we can't wait, any of us. We cannot wait for somebody else to do this for us. There's just too much at stake. If we actually want to live in a moral and just America. And we want America to lead in a moral and just world, we have to do it. All of us."

The most important part of that quote by the senator is this one, “We have to be the change that we believe in.” I would like to ask my fellow Americans what they believe in of if they have a belief system at all.

In a piece written by Sy Hersh reporting to all of us how the U.S. has been funneling money to violent al Qaeda groups, he writes, “We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11.” This is the latest coming from the Bush administration and it begs the question; just where is the American outrage knowing that our tax money is going to those that did attack us on 9/11?

I wonder how the victims of Katrina and Rita feel about that as Bush has turned his back on all of them. I wonder as well how those that have been left behind by this Bush administration feel that their needs are not met when he has funded these groups. Yet, America yawns.

I wonder where the outrage is coming from our yawning Americans when soldiers that have come home wounded were living in squalid conditions that were sent off to fight the wrong people. The monies President Bush used to fund these terrorist groups should have gone to our soldiers.

We were all horrified beyond belief on that bright summer’s day, yet this president by funneling our tax money without congressional oversight has committed treason. It is called aiding and abetting the enemy. Yet, America yawns. So, what are your beliefs America?

I stopped being surprised by the lack of concern long ago.

2. you know, I was thiking about that today
That the Walter Reed scandal is distracting us from the Sy Hersh story. I thought it was kinda strange, if Walter Reed is the lesser of the two scandals.. I can't imagine how bad it is in regards to bush supporting AQ.

4. If what Hersch said
was on the news as much as Coultergeist and Anna Nicole Smith, I think a lot of folks would be totally outraged. The yawning people he speaks of are the ones that believe everything that is presented to them on the MSM news, because these folks believe such a story(Hersh's) is conspiracy or Tin-Foil hat. The folks he speaks of are not the Du'ers, or anyone who investigates for themselves. On the other hand, some of these folks are working several jobs just to makes ends meet. When are they going to have time to blog and post and read ? What we do here everyday is a true luxury for some folks.

5. It's all been lumped together into free-floating outrage
There's no definition to it anymore ... everyone I know hates Bush & Co. for so many reasons, the new
pack of them just gets added to the lot. I don't think it's that America is yawning ... or if it is,
then it's because now it's so "not-surprising", it's boring.

6. Y'all make some very insightful points. From my personal experience,
most of the people that I know have no idea of the depth of destruction this cabal is heaping on our earth and country. They simply do not have the info; when I tell my friends some of the things that we DUers know so clearly, they are shocked...even the liberal, rabid anti-Bushies. We are lucky to have found this incredible site. Thank you Skinner et al. Our job is to spread the facts as quickly and as thoroughly as possible to others. I really feel for the citizens who have to work 2 or 3 jobs to eat and have a roof. How can these individuals possibly know what we know?
