When Democrats turn Republican series: Case study #1 Joseph McCarthy
There have been instances where political figures initially Democratic Party members have changed affiliation to the Republican Party.

I'm going to start a series of threads about what happened to these political figures and what impact they had on history.

There's no better place to start imo than with an example from my home State of Wisconsin-Senator Joseph McCarthy.

The UK based spartacus.schoolnet has a good profile of this former Democrat that turned Republican.

1. Besides McCarthy there's Ronald Reagan, Trent Lott, Strom Thurmond...
Ronnie needs to be done next at some future time-I find it odd that no one has commented on this thread, but there's a lot going on tonight.
