Gonzales fights to keep his job
Posted on Thu, Mar. 15, 2007
By Ron Hutcheson
McClatchy Newspapers

... As attorney general and in his previous job as White House counsel, Gonzales has been at the center of virtually every controversy involving the administration's view of civil liberties in the war on terror, the use of torture on suspected terrorists and spying on Americans without warrants ...

-"I would never, ever make a change in a United States attorney for political reasons," he told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Jan. 18. Critics say his statement is patently absurd because administration officials later said that former U.S attorney H.E. "Bud" Cummins was forced out of his job in Arkansas to make room for Tim Griffin, a former Bush campaign worker and a protege of Karl Rove, the president's chief political adviser ...

"Either Attorney General Gonzales knew what his chief of staff was doing - that's a pretty severe indictment - or he didn't, which means he doesn't have the foggiest idea of what's going on in the Justice Department," said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y ...

1. If he's fighting, the only one he is fighting with is the blivet, who has been
his consigliere. And that would never happen.

2. Huh, so much for restoring integrity.
Yeah, I've thought the above for about 415 times already, but they're still trying to defend themselves. If Pinocchio were alive, his nose would be stretching to Pluto and back. About six months ago I thought some shady republicans would be covering up some gay pedophile scandal for years if it would help them on election day. Turns out I was literally correct come September 29, 2006. I wonder what we will hear from Rove if (when? ) Bush gets caught one night prowling fr prostitutes while driving a black pickup truck with tainted windows. Anything is possible.
