NPR: Snow: Subpoenas May Lead to Less Cooperation
All Things Considered, March 21, 2007 · Congress and the White House are ratcheting up their confrontation over eight dismissed U.S. attorneys — and how top White House officials will testify in an inquiry of the firings. A House panel has voted to authorize subpoenas; it has not yet issued any.

But White House spokesman Tony Snow says President Bush's offer of private conversations without transcriptions is the best way to get the truth. And Snow said that if Congress issues a subpoena, the White House will withdraw its offer to cooperate.

The outcome of the House subcommittee motion to grant subpoena authority was never in doubt: Democrats outnumber Republicans on the panel.

But there was some question about how heated the debate would be. Until now, Republicans in Congress have been muted at best when they defend the Justice Department and the White House in the controversy over the U.S. attorney dismissals in 2006.

Bush can hope it goes to the SCOTUS. Fine.
Then we don't find out what they have to hide

But hearings under closed doors, no notes and no testimony under oath, will gain us nothing as well.

They might stop telling Congress they're not coooperating and just ignore them.

7. Snowjob sure had his nerve.
His attitude was like, 'Of course you're going to get the truth from us, how dare you suspect otherwise?' I kept hoping one of the reporters would remind him of how Junior lied before the election about plans to dump Rummy, then admitted he had lied. But they did say the administration's story about the USA firings keeps changing.

This article, like most others on the subject that are currently circulating, does not mention important conditions of the White House 'deal' they have offered. In addition to insisting that Rove and Miers not be interviewed under oath, White House counsel Fred Fielding laid out the following demands in a March 20 letter: that interviews be conducted behind closed doors, that they not be televised or transcribed, that no subpoenas be issued following the interviews, and that questions may not concern internal White House communications.

Best way to get the truth? Snowjob wouldn't recognize the truth if it jumped up and bit him on the ass - which is anywhere on his body IMO.

9. how could it possible be less?
What is this guy smokin'? Does he expect the dumb American public to believe they have ever cooperated? It has been "my way or the highway" on every blasted issue. This guy is beyond the pale.

14. First Question: "What did George Bush know, and when did he know it?"

Live NOW Leahy calling for the vote, and then interrupted by Arizona's Kyle. Spector was given a note to talk later, so he stopped the debate. Now he's talking again, completing his statement, since Kyle asked for debate before the vote.

15. Since "Co-operation" Is Already at Negative Infinity With This Bunch
it can't get any worse. They can uncooperate themselves right out of office and into court and
Impeach, Indict, Incarcerate!
