While Israel has never admitted to having nuclear weapons, few international experts question the Jewish state's presence on the world's list of nuclear powers.

Its nuclear capability is arguably the most secretive weapons of mass destruction programme in the world.

Unlike Iran and North Korea - two countries whose alleged nuclear ambitions have recently come to the fore - Israel has never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, designed to prevent the global spread of nuclear weapons.

Other states in the Middle East, many of them strong supporters of the Palestinian cause, have expressed deep concern about the existence of an Israeli nuclear weapons programme.

They also accuse the US of operating a regional policy of double-standards, ignoring Israel's weapons programmes while insisting that others - notably pre-war Iraq, Iran and Syria - are a threat to peace because of their alleged weapons of mass destruction.

1. And If You Were One of 6 Million People . . .

residing in a small geographical area surrounded by 60 million people with an insane desire to kill you, you too would possess nukes.

The Arabs are amazing. They have lost 7 wars with Israel yet they act as though they are winners and the Israelis have no right to be there. Please explain: how and when did the Palestinians cease to be Arabs, and attain their own, separate nationality?

And let's talk about Europe a little, too. Europeans have managed to murder virtually all the Jews living in their midst, yet remain virulently anti-Semitic.

Think about this one, too, as you criticize "the Jewish state" for having nukes: there are about 16 million Jews worldwide. If there were the same percentage of Jews, as existed during Roman times, there would be over 200 million of us.

There is only one problem with the State of Israel: it puts too many of us in one place, making us an easier target for those who can't resist the temptation to murder us.
