Monica Goodling, One of 150 Pat Robertson Cadres in the Bush Admin
by Max Blumenthal
Huff Post
03/30/2007

"Monica Goodling, a previously unknown Justice Department official who served as liaison to the White House, has become a key figure in the Attorneygate scandal. When newly released emails revealed the prominent role Goodling played in engineering the firing of seven US Attorneys, Goodling pled the Fifth Amendment, refusing to testify under oath.

Josh Marshall writes that Goodling may be "afraid of indictment for perjury because she has to go up to Congress and testify under oath before the White House has decided what its story is."

Goodling's involvement in Attorneygate is not the only aspect of her role in the Bush administration that bears examination. Her membership in a cadre of 150 graduates of Pat Robertson's Regent University currently serving in the administration is another, equally revealing component of the White House's political program.

Goodling earned her law degree from Regent, an institution founded by Robertson "to produce Christian leaders who will make a difference, who will change the world." Helping to purge politically disloyal federal prosecutors is just one way Goodling has helped fulfill Robertson's revolutionary goals.

....SNIP"

1. I like the point at the end. She is using "man's law" to protect herself. Not
religeous law. I hope she learns to feel grateful for such law & order. Constitution too.

2. Good point, Applegrove!
And it could be that "man law" will keep some of these thieves, liars, warmongers and traitors out of jail. But I have to say that my belief in "innocent until proven guilty" is being severely tested these days. I just look at any given Bushcon, and figure: crime!

3. something significant about Goodling's mentor
Goodling was the protege of Barbara Comstock at the RNC's opposition research team in 2000. Comstock is a barracuda, originating from the Scaife-funded hits on the Clintons.

So Goodling has been trained in the politics of smash-mouth personal destruction. She followed Comstock from the RNC to the DoJ, where Comstock became Ashcroft's spokeswoman. Tim Griffin also worked for Comstock there, as her deputy. They were both schooled by Comstock, who is a hateful shrew in the manner of Toensing-Coulter.

Is Comstock running a stealth operation to politicize the DoJ? Her last known job was running Scooter's defense fund.

4. I remember back when Robertson was trying to get
accreditation for his law school. He had a difficult time and there was some mini scandal involved the way he finally got it. Can't remember the particulars though.

7. Robertson is a Lawyer
not a minister. The ministry is just his schtick.
