Who is the People Party candidate in 2008?

In a race where Democratic candidates have already raised well over $70 million from tens of thousands of donors, finding out who is the People Party candidate is no easy task. You have to take a sober, objective look at three things: 1) What the candidates campaign themes are 2) Who each candidate surrounds him/herself with and 3) Who each candidate's enemies are (with this last one perhaps the most telling of all). Here is a look at Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards on these metrics.

that Edwards is the bets choice for the Left. He isn't perfect but he would actually give us a voice.

5. I admit I like his rhetoric the best

and he is tough enough not to buckle under the stress of the office. His background as a trial lawyer will come into play and he is the likeliest man to have the DOJ start checking into the incredible list of fraud, money laundering, vote fixing and outright theft that have become business as usual for all 3 branches of government controlled by the neocon GOP. His job also required a well functioning BS detector, a must have in the office.

Unfortunately, 18 months can be a very long time, and Edwards is the candidate the neocons would most like to disgrace. I hope announcing this early wasn't a tactical blunder on his part. His enemies are incredibly powerful, one reason I approve of him. His enemies are my enemies.

We may still be faced with a dark horse candidate jumping into the race at the last minute when the rest of them are badly bruised. Until then, I find Edwards to be the best of the bunch.

I watched Edwards at a campaign appearance in Iowa this weekend, on CSPAN, and was quite impressed. Elizabeth was there too, and IMHO, she stole the show. :)

If Wes or Al don't jump into the race, I'll be supporting Edwards. Actually, I'd be glad to see any three of these people win the nomination. (But I have a feeling that Wes and Al won't be candidates in '08.)

that this is an excellent analysis. I wish Elizabeth Edwards a long, long life, and she would make a truly great First Lady. The issue of NAFTA and so-called "free trade" is flying under the radar of this campaign. I wish it were more central and that all the candidates were smoked out on it. Edwards has been clear and I agree with him.

In addition to his priorities and positions being the best of the whole list. (I understand now why Kucinich endorsed him in 2004.)
