Words of wisdom from the second team

WASHINGTON -- For the last six years, we have been endlessly bombarded with a dulling, disputative rhetoric not only from this unfortunate administration but also from many of our congressional and other leaders.

There has been a cold, authoritarian Spartanism to the language directed at us, as though American citizens were no more than unthinking automatons in some grand imperial plan to rule the world.

On the Democratic side, I thought that both much-maligned Ohio representative Dennis Kucinich and the popular former vice presidential candidate John Edwards thoughtfully grasped far more than just today's news or today's tired administration views.
