Why Blair Hull will win IL senate primary.
"The one thing Blair Hull's opponents have brought up time and time again is that he has money -- lots and lots of money. What they do not bring up, for obvious reasons, are the intricate, imaginative, and realistic plans and policy papers he and his campaign have drawn up for the issues important to Illinois voters."

2. well that`s all well and good-but
out here in the corn and bean fields i don`t have a clue to who`s who. i live in Ronnie land and the big thing is JACK ryan. it would be nice if a democrat would venture out of Chicago. i`m not sure if anyone has made it out to Salle county which is the closest democratic county in this area. i guess they figure they just need the votes in the chicagoland area. oh well,Illinois politicians

4. And then there's his utter lack of personality and facial expression
Which is no doubt the reason he was able to make his first fortune gambling. The man is the ultimate poker face with a voice to match.

He's only making the run because Blagojevich owed him for being a major money man behind his own campaign. (And Blag is NOT highly respected by party insiders here, so that means nothing.)

BTW, as a Director of one of the most influential Democratic organizations in Illinois, I've met him and talked with him several times. Blair Hull could no more beat Jack Ryan (the equally rich, JFK-gorgeous, tall, athletic, charismatic, articulate, brilliant and compellingly resume'd Republican with great ads and a movie star ex wife, Jeri Ryan) than Dubya would vote Dem. Illinois may well elect a Dem, but anybody who thinks we have a lock on the Senatorial election against a compelling Republican candidate doesn't remember history.

The only candidate (and I've met them all and like most of them a lot) who can put up a strong fight against Ryan is Barak Obama.

6. The only time I disagree with you Hedda...
Is when you say it won't be a romp for the Dem. I think it will be, unless Pappas or Skinner somehow won the primary. I suspect that our candidate is going to ride the coattails of the next President!

5. A nice article for Hull, but...
I'm not sure I'd call it objective. For example, even if another candidate has similar or identical proposals as Hull, they get glossed over and never revisited. Like this:

"The Service Employees International Union has endorsed Barack Obama, who has a great labor record but whose policy proposals are almost identical to Hull's. "

I suspect that it really is a case of Hull's proposals being "almost indentical" to Obama's, not as stated in the article.

In any case, I'm an undecided, leaning to Obama, comfortable with Hull.

7. Read the other candidate profiles, seems pretty objective as a whole.
I like Obama, and I think you'll see his profile on that site is a pretty fair assessment.
Both Hull and Obama would make fine Senators. And philosophically, they tend to be quite similar in their views.

Who I am not comfortable with is Hynes. I'm looking for someone with plans, not just ideas. Hynes says he wants to create jobs and provide health care, but he has no clue HOW he's gonna do it. I requested a copy of his jobs plan, and I got an e-mail with his website address. I hear you talking Danny, but it's all just noise.

I'm with Hull rather than Obama, because I've been watching the race for a year, and Hull got in the race before Obama did. I already picked my horse. And I think he's got the best chance going head-to-head against a well-funded GOP candidate, who no doubt will get a phone call and wire-transfer from Karl Rove on March 17th.

We gotta win this thing.

And hopefully Melissa Bean and David Gill can take the Crane and Johnson congressional districts, too. I want to volunteer for Bean, she went to my high school. And I just met Gill yesterday, he really is a good candidate. But now I'm off message, so I'll stop aimlessly banging away at this keyboard.

9. Born and raised in North Burbs, moving to NW burbs
But currently in Springfield. Heck, I could canvas this whole state for whoever gets the nomination.

10. I voted for Melissa Bean two years ago
and I plan on voting for her again. I live in Palatine, and it is full of republicans. I am always trying to change minds, but I don't have much luck. These people are pretty set in their ways.

11. She did pretty good in 02 considering the lack of party support
Pretty much showed the party she is a viable candidate. I think she has a real good shot to take Crane out. Schakowsky is gonna help her fundraise, and that'll level the playing field.

I hope to go to her office opening in Lake Zurich, since I'll be in Chicago for a wedding this Sunday. GO Bean!
