President Bush's appearance on "Meet the Press" on Sunday was the last straw. For months, I've been hoping that the cache of weapons would actually turn up. For months, I've suffered cruel jokes about me trusting a Bush. And for months, I've watched the rationale for the war on Iraq shift from one that I could digest to one that makes me want to throw up.
Now I feel betrayed.

I don't understand why no one is talking about this. We overthrew another government without cause. By what right to we hold all those former government officials? The focus needs to shift from no WMD to the fact we overthew a sovereign government and inflicted all those casualties.

can do no wrong? Is that why they want to be fooled? It must be the PNAC mindset sitting in, "We are the USA and we can do whatever we god damned feel like doing". It is times like that that a sense of helplessness overwhelms me. Those are the fucking idiots we need to convince. We shouldn't have to convince fellow democrats to vote for the dem nominee!

Just an interesting aside, My brother came to visit me from California over the summer. We had a "country looking" flag hanging on our flag pole. His actual comment to me was, "I am glad to see a democrat waving the flag". It wasn't even an actual flag but one that is for a decorative wrought iron flag pole. I put it out in July, just like I have a Santa one for Christmas and Turkey one for Thanksgiving.

I was just dumbfounded that he thought democrats were against the flag! True, unbridled ignorance.

5. Bush will still have TONS of support

Unfortunately, the average ignorant American moron does not recognize the damage Bush has done to the US. To them, all arabs are towel heads and terrorists, or to use a pejorative from a friend of mine in the Marines, "sand niggers". There is a huge portion of people out there who have the same opinion as General Boykin. Face it, Americans as a whole are the most ignorant people in hte industrialized world regarding other peoples and cultures.

MAny in the US see this as a crusade, so his support among fundies is steadfast. Basically, they wanted heads to roll after Sept 11, don't try to confuse them with the details that Hussein had no links to terrorism.

I agree. Most are blissfully unaware. What the republicans have done is A. Take one issue voters and woo them. B. The ones they can't woo with an issue, they scare "we are at war!" and C. When that doesn't work, they redistrict to disenfranchise minority votes. In other words, they have a back up plan for every scenario.
