Psy-Ops : NYTimes Lies to Cover Up Haiti Coup
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 05:18 PM by Chicago Democrat
Notice here how our "paper of record" in the US lies and tries to muddy the waters of truth in the crucial early hours of this US-sponsored Haiti coup!

Aristide Flees After a Shove From the U.S.

(The Title is a LIE, Aristide was kidnapped by US troops)
(Snip)
He made the decision to give up power on Saturday evening, hours after the White House in a statement questioned his fitness to rule.

(HE MADE NO DECISION HE WAS KIDNAPPED AT gunpoint. BY US TROOPS)

Mr. Aristide, signaling a disconnection from the violence engulfing his country and the appeals from world leaders to step aside, meekly asked the American ambassador in Haiti through an aide whether his resignation would help the country.

("meekly asked" What kind of crap news is this???)

"It was as if he was the last guy in the world to figure out that the country would be better off were he to relinquish power," the official said.

(What "Official"?? Annonymous BULLSHIT)

The final stage of Mr. Aristide's rule opened when the White House reacted strongly to the report of an attack on Friday on a Haitian Coast Guard installation by a pro-Aristide mob. After a firefight at the Killick base, five miles from the main port, the Haitian Coast Guard workers were forced to take to boats and flee the site, the official said. That incident persuaded White House officials that Mr. Aristide and his armed loyalists sought to shut down the process by which refugees were being intercepted by the United States Coast Guard and returned home.

2. Let's kidnapp Bush...
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 07:32 PM by Dirk39
And throw him out of a plane above the poorest slums of Haiti! The liberated will know how to celebrate the freedom fighter.

"Double standards

The White House has called into question Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's "fitness to continue to govern his country". According to the official White House statement released one day before Aristide's departure for the Dominican Republic:

"His failure to adhere to democratic principles has contributed to the deep polarization and violent unrest that we are witnessing in Haiti today... His own actions have called into question his fitness to continue to govern Haiti. We urge him to examine his position carefully, to accept responsibility, and to act in the best interests of the people of Haiti"

Now should we not apply the same standards to President George W. Bush who has lied to the American people, violated international law and waged a criminal based on a fabricated pretext?"

3. where do you get your sources?
you left out important issues such as where did you get this info about the kidnap from. I want to know the truth, and I'm willing to believe me, but you really have to try a little harder to persuade me why to do so...

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/03/02/1616208

My post info was based on 3/1 shows, but today's show has aonn interview with Ramsey Clark who confirms all of my points.

95% of all Americans don't know or care about Haiti; its been a short learning curve for most of us. I think you will find comprehensive coverage on Democracy Now.
