http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/news/s_147252.htmlRobin Ponton has not seen her father in more than a year since he was called to action with the 307th Military Police Company.
During a rally Wednesday calling for the removal of American troops from Iraq, the North Side teenager -- holding back tears and speaking timidly into a bank of microphones -- quietly asked that President Bush bring her father home.
"I want my dad home. I want him here with me and the rest of my family," Ponton, 13, said at the federal building, Downtown. "I don't want him in Iraq where he can be killed. Bring my dad home."
Her father, Army Staff Sgt. Charles Pollard, arrived in Iraq May 24. Pollard is working with Iraqi police in Mashtal, a working-class suburb of Baghdad. Since his arrival, he has been featured in the Washington Post and on CNN expressing the low morale and feelings of futility harbored by some U.S. troops.
Pollard has sent his daughter a number of letters. For her birthday, Pollard sent her a card signed by his entire platoon. He is careful to write each letter as if it was his last and each letter ends with the same four words; "I love you baby."
The above is a photo of Robin protesting when Bush was in Pittsburgh Monday. Yes, she and some other military families protested his war.
