Indicted CEO Turns TV Preacher (HealthSouth Scrushy with wife)

When HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy was indicted on 85 counts of cooking his company's books and barred from entering the offices of the Birmingham empire he built, most thought they'd heard the last of him at least until his trial.

Not so, reports CBS News Correspondent Lee Cowan.

Instead, the alleged mastermind of one of the worst cases of corporate fraud in history has gone from CEO to religious talk show host, with his wife at his side.

"I'm working very hard to get closer to our relationship to God, and we've been led to do this," says Scrushy.

In his show, Scrushy says, "Be sure to choose God's path because the path you choose will determine where you spend eternity."

P.S. But be careful my child, because once a liberal always a liberal. Your penance on this earth may have to be to carry that cross and accept being second class with no constitutional rights. Remember, your reward will come in heaven and accept that although others (mostly repugs) may look like they are being rewarded right now on earth. They aren't really. Being from the Birmingham area, I have had the misfortune of watching Scrushy's rise to the top with his company HealthSouth. I know people who worked for him and I know a person who is in jail because of colluding with Scrushy. There are many people who have been tried and convicted for this awful case of profit grabbing, and most of them have accepted their fates.

Not the mastermind, however. His cynical new "show" is a way to change his image in the minds of potential jurors. Remember, in Alabama if you are a professed "Christian", then we have to forgive you of all of your past sins because you have accepted Jesus. I'm not half kidding here....

Don't be surprised if Mr. Scrushy gets a slap on the wrist for his actions while those he directed to engage in illegal activities are rotting in jail.

...who has found religion. And Christianity is one of the better religions for this because the claim is that if you turn your will and your life over to Jesus Christ and God, ALL of your past sins will be forgiven. Not a bad deal, especially when it doesn't matter when you choose to do this. So you could sin most of your life, reap the benefits of those sins, repent on your death-bed and spend eternity with Jesus Christ, God, the angels and all born again sinners in the Holy Kingdom of our Lord. Say, there have been a plethora of such conversions from many past republican administrations. I'm sure we'll see many more come out of the current BuchCo and Affiliates as well, that is if they don't vaporize before they have had a chance to repent. :nuke:
