May I begin with a question? What political force or point of view do the elites ultimately fear?
The DLC right wing dem machine? Thumbs down, since they have made a science of sucking up to the elites -- clearly, because their dearest wish is to BE elites.
How about the Republican Party? That, of course, is a rhetorical question since the GOP (Greed on Parade) has long since disappeared up the you know what of the elites.
Well, then how about religious fanatics? You know, dufus Armageddon types who really think the world is going to go *boom* any day now. Now it's common knowledge that president pinhead is an Armageddonite, so every morning he must look out the window to see if he's still in biological reality, or "lifted up" into the post *boom* paradise glassy-eyed television evangelists keep predicting. Sorry George, you’re still here -- and probably best not to hold your breath.
An oh yes, Sarah I'd stop looking out that window too if I were you.
In any case, far from fearing these killers in the name of God, the elites almost certainly find their primate-like gibbering an endless source of amusement.
OK, so who DO the elites fear down to their DLC manicured toes?
Yes, it’s another rhetorical question, since the answer is self evident. They fear PROGRESSIVES AND LIBERALS and that's the ONLY people they fear, since the rest of the political world is on the payroll.
And why do they fear us and do everything to get their bought and paid for minions (e.g., the DLC and the GOP, etc.) to discount and ridicule progressive policies and values as much as possible?
Hey, this is an easy questionnaire. They are actually terrified of us because in the 6,000 year "war" between the "Haves" (who always win) and the "Have Not's" (who always lose), progressives and liberals (and hey, throw in socialists while you at it) are passionately committed to values and polices that express the will of the "Have Not's", i.e., basically the entire planet.
Or said slightly differently, in this genocidal Class War against the Have Not’s, progressive are on the side of the working class, not the side of the Paris Hilton's, whose designer wardrobes run into hundreds of thousands of dollars. Think about that and think about how elites typically have SEVERAL mansions and so many top of the line cars they probably never get around to driving most of them.
And think about how pleased they must be that even though they live like literal Gods and Goddesses, the "cattle people" (that's us) pay all the taxes and supply all the cannon fodder children for the money cow oil wars of the elites. Hey, it's just the middle and lower class blood of our children that is traded for fossil fuels, so no problema -- right?
It doesn't take that much raw intelligence to see that the core sickness of the human species is the Have and Have Not moral insanity, and the best definition of the liberal vision (although we should start leaving these "names" and focus only on issues), is a moral/rational/patriotic commitment to liberate the "Have Not's" from the vampire "Haves".
So, it's now diamond clear why basically EVERYONE takes shots at progressives and that is because basically all political non-progressives have an elite hand up his/her puppet identity and thus babbles on cue the elite party line -- and that includes the DLC just as much as the RNC. What proof? Just look at the behavior (still going on!) of the 2006 Congress of DLC right wing dem traitors who did everything but run Bush's bath water while they obeyed his every commandment (which, in turn, was an elite commandment).
So, this is the United States of the Elites -- EXCEPT for those of us for whom patriotism, rationality, morality, and sanity still are the virtues we try to live by.
Not often in life are political/social matters so easy to understand. And Progressives are the only force on this planet who are steadily building up the critical mass to MASSIVELY confront the elites.
Obama? Well, we all keep talking about how he should have his "hundred days", but in the meantime his appointee's take turns trashing liberals (more recently even with public profanity!), so if the hope meter has a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the will the American people), right now we're around a 2, because his "people" and his own remarks make it clear that this administration is going to be VERY far to the right of the people who elected him.
In short, basically elite puppet samo, samo?
So, question answered? Our non-progressive political system/prison (and Obama's clearly not going to be much different) is simply an army of puppets who are playthings of the elites.
However, as it was in the beginning, is now, but NOT ever shall be, because there is a social/political water table in this country (and the entire planet as well, most probably) made up of MILLIONS of citizens who are seething with patriotic outrage (and much Obama heartbreak), and if you DLC elite suck ups think you're going to discount us out of WHATEVER hardball aggressiveness we need to be legitimately represented in government and somehow put a candy ass "force field" around the elites, think again.
Because we ain't going anywhere and we WILL get representation and we're getting closer and closer to the social reality where the vampire elites can run, but they can't hide.
Compared to where we were, say, 4 to 8 years ago, we have been going ballistic into the land of political power. Keep ignoring us if you dare. When the rubber really hits the road, mostly it comes down to numbers, and like a stock that has split over and over again, we just keep growing and growing.
And what happens when the political system/prison government of a country passes that critical point where THE PEOPLE wake up that one or two percent (or even less!) of their country are the literal Gods and Goddesses (or Kings and Queens) of what used to be a Constitutional Republic? In short, what happens when they realize they are being systematically reduced to cattle or corpses by the elites?
Hint to the elites and their army of slime. Do a little reading about what happened to "collaborators" (the Judas media comes to mind) in France after WW2. Or for that matter, go back a few MORE years and see what happened in a country when the vampire elites TOTALLY discounted the blood banks they fed on.
So if Obama takes two or three steps back from Bush's eight years of horror, HIS SOUL HAS BEEN BOUGHT, since only if he takes at least TWENTY steps back is he a man of patriotism and conscience.
And please, PLEASE no lectures about how he hasn’t been inaugurated yet, since what president elects do “before” the inauguration has been a reliable historical predictor of what they will do “after” the inauguration.
Thus, this is not the time for candy ass "tinkering" or recycled Republican spin. Probably nothing is more ominous than Dick Cheney's endorsement of most of Obama's appointments.

Many (most?) progressives still believe Obama should have his 100 days to put up or shut up; but if it's shut up, then get ready for a moral/rational/patriotic tsunami This is not negotiable. If Obama doesn’t significantly integrate into his administration his promised values and polices of the people who elected him (which so far he has NOT been doing, no matter how they spin it!) there’s not a prayer he will be re-elected in 2012. And he can take that to the bank – failing or otherwise.

It’s the ancient Have and Have Not curse of human existence: Progressives, liberals, or socialists (the name changes over the centuries) support the Have Not’s; and basically all other political systems support the Haves’s. Thus, the ONLY two party system on this planet is between the Have’s and their bought and paid for right wing puppets (who express the will of the elites), vs. the champions of the Have Not’s (who express the will of the people).
And so far Barack Obama is still 100% an unknown quantity.
