WHEN IGNORANCE BECOMES MENDACITY: Damn good read
WHEN IGNORANCE BECOMES MENDACITY

When they're caught in their lies, they just keep on lying. George W. Bush and his gang find the truth about the war in Iraq so troubling they avoid it at whatever cost, knowing that making their lies live is the only possible way they can stay in power.

1. The Florida link?
Why was it Bu$h was in Florida the day airplanes put a scar on our nation, and he was in Florida yesterday to commensurate his apathy toward the warnings?

Again, I attest, shake the world upside down, everything loose falls into Florida.

3. I heard it as the "Great Shake Theory". . .
which postulates that when the world was created, God grabbed America by its Maine and shook, and everything loose rolled into California.

"You're from California, boy?" the TI shouted at me during Air Force Basic Training. "You're from California? Ain't nuthin' but nuts and cars in California, boy, and you ain't got no wheels!"

4. * "despicable"
<Two telling illustrations. Our new best friend, Pakistan, remains a safe haven for terrorists and a cash-and-carry bazaar for crazy extremists to buy materials for nuclear weapons. Bush is soft on this serious threat. Saudi Arabia is the major financier and ideological fountain for bin Laden, al-Qaeda and other radical Islamist groups. George W. Bush covers for and coddles his Saudi pals to protect his family's own business interests. That is despicable. >

5. Stupid here, lying there.
Bush "uses" his ignorance and his mendacity selectively, and only when it serves his purpose. In the real world, this is not a long-term strategy for success, but apparently it works very well in American politics. For someone who prides himself on his simple, straight-shooter worldview, he is astonishingly contradictory and morally incoherent. Not that the media would ever let on, though.
