Coyotes vow to take the Prairie Back.
the leader of the coyotes was quoted as saying

"It all starts with a bite, but you wait until our ACME rocket gets here."

Broomfield woman reports coyote attack: Daily Camera

A woman in northern Broomfield said her 3-year-old yellow lab, Rufus, is a hero for fighting off two coyotes that ran from the nearby open space and latched onto her right arm Thursday morning.

“It was pretty scary,” Denison said. “I see coyotes out here all the time, but this was the first time that I’ve been approached by one.

“I think I was near a den.”

Shortly after Rufus ran off to catch a Frisbee, Denison said, one of the coyotes latched onto her right arm.

“Right away, I thought it was two dogs that just wanted to play Frisbee,” Denison said. “I put my arm out in front of me ... to protect myself. He ripped through my top jacket.”

She said her arm was bruised in the attack, but the animal’s teeth didn’t puncture her skin.

“I’m lucky,” Denison said.

She said she managed to shake the animal off her arm, and that’s when the 75-pound Rufus came to the rescue.

“I was yelling at the coyotes to get away,” she said. “(Rufus) ran back to kind of take care of things for me.”

1. I love labs ... real babies for 99% of the time until they need to act.
I had a 100 lbs Yellow for 13 years ... real gentle except one night
an unwanted person tried to walk in the house. He died in arms @
13.5 when he was put down.

I now have a 2 year black lab ... ther neighbor's little border collie
beats him up ..... but one day my 13 year old son was walking him
and a creepy man came up to "say hi" to my son as he was walking
his lab ..... Black Lab went nuts and tried to attack the guy ..... lab
got a pound of bacon when my son told me about what happened.

2. I have two lab mixes and a Golden.
All sweet, gentle guys, but if they feel I am being threatened the are so protective. This includes my 3 month old baby, Jacob, that we got from the pound just before Thanksgiving. When we are out walking he will put himself between me and any perceived danger and growl.

5. Of course if anyone or anything tried to hurt my babies,
they would see a mother's rage!

3. Domestic dogs are rarely a match for coyotes
Especially not two coyotes at a time. The woman was very lucky.
