And I always was told how gracious Laura Bush is. Not!
The very nerve of them refusing the house to the Obamas!!!
Yesterday President-elect Barack Obama and his family moved into Blair House, the guest house for official visitors to Washington. They had asked to move in earlier this month when they came to Washington to enroll their two daughters, Sasha and Malia, in Sidwell Friends School on Jan. 5. They were turned down because of "previously scheduled events and guests."

1. Not a hater
Until now. Last straw, Blair house! I hate these S.O.B. Bush people. Not from me, but he will get his and so will his wife. What you give out in life you get back double. Believe it!

4. You know, I wish I believed that, or saw evidence of it.
Plenty of evil people have gone to the grave without paying for their crimes.

2. Laura Bush spent over $500,000 from donors to buy new china for The White House last week.
Edited on Fri Jan-16-09 03:28 PM by IanDB1
Why would Pickles do that?

To make it harder for Michelle Obama to justify buying a new china set that SHE prefers, when The Obamas move in this week.

That's the only reason I can think of.

See prior thread:

Laura Bush orders a $485,000 White House China Set

3. I can't fathom what on earth
would make china worth 1/2 million dollars? I'm not a big fan of Laura, but I didn't picture her as being frivolous.

7. About 320 place settings, with (I think) 14 pieces per place setting.
Then there's the other china, which has fewer place settings. Seventy-five? I'm not sure. There all designed just for White House use, and some of the various pieces within each place setting vary a bit.

They are definitely works of art, and it's too bad people will actually eat on them. LOL Well...you know what I mean. :)

8. Thanks
That is a lot of "dishes". Did Hillary design or choose a set as well?

12. I'm responding to the idea fed-up-mom, not just you. This whole
use of all of this money for some dishes - I mean, I'm sure they are works of art, etc. But I think more and more that I must be a communist because this just is not clear to me why we support our elected folks as though they were some kind of royalty and better than they average bear. I mean you and I don't get to go to the inagural balls. etc. We can't beg borrow or steal an invite. Why did I get started?

6. Wrong. If you actually read the thread
it has nothing to do with denying Michelle the right to pick out china. Mrs. Bush helped design that china years ago, and it takes that long to produce it.

Michelle will get a chance to do the same if Obama serves two terms, and maybe if he even serves just one term.

5. She is somebody a lot of people WANT to like...
And so I think many project their own ideas on to her. (As well as onto the twins. I have seen a lot women on a feminist page talk a lot about the Bush twins and say things about them like "I think they are actually Democrats!" etc. Where do you see proof or even evidence of this I ask...)

In reality all we have is what they say and their actions. The fact that she would marry GWB in itself is enough to make me question her judgment. That she would support THAT man is a big huge whoppin' smelling pile of action if you ask me.

9. Well, I can forgive her for marrying him
as she was young and most of us have made some disastrous choices in our lives, BUT she stayed with him, smiling all the way. Her defense of him seems truly genuine and I find that a little scary.

10. Yes, I agree. It is not the fact that she is STILL married to him.
It is her CONTINUED support of him that I find disturbing.

Sorry but there is nothing to do but decide that as she publically supports him that this is truly the case. I don't get these people who say "Oh, but I bet she secretly disagrees..."

Show me evidence of that, or show me where she has done something or publically spoken out against him. Until then she is his loyal supporter in my eyes.

13. I used to think she was faking her support
for the cameras. I pictured her off-camera bitching him out, but I don't think so anymore. I think she is a stand-by-her-man woman through the good and the bad, unless she is a very good actress.

11. Laura is a classic enabler. Bush is an alcoholic (once an
alcoholic always one whether you drink or not - been there done that - I know). Laura does not srike me as a person who has attended Al Anon and uses its teachings.

14. She appears more like a protective mother
than a supportive wife. I can't imagine the years she's spent putting up with him and I can't imagine any hidden qualities that Bush might have that she might find endearing. Plus he eats like a pig!
