Pray Obama fails

Many American Christians believe, as an article of faith, that we are to pray for the success of our leaders.
It has become a sort of conventional wisdom among soft-minded believers. The biblical proof-text for this misguided way of thinking is Romans 13:1-4:
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
"Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
"For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
"For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil."
What could be more clear-cut? At face value, it would seem the Bible is telling us government is a God-ordained good and that we are not to resist its terrors.
Many a coward has been bolstered in his conviction against challenging tyranny by not reading too deeply into the Scriptures. Yet, nowhere does the Bible ever suggest evil rulers are to be obeyed. When the rule of men conflicts with the commands of God, the Bible leaves no doubt about where we should stand.
That's why I do not hesitate today in calling on godly Americans to pray that Barack Hussein Obama fail in his efforts to change our country from one anchored on self-governance and constitutional republicanism to one based on the raw and unlimited power of the central state.
It would be folly to pray for his success in such an evil campaign.

(more, if you can stand it)

Bush has done more to increase centralized government power, destroy the Constitution and abrogate human rights than any President.

2. Pray that we get more poverty?
Pray we end up with vast joblessness?
More chaos in the streets?
More misery?
Being slaves to the few remaining jobs?
Feeling helpless and hopeless?

That's what they're really praying for. Barak Obama will be fine.

3. Dear "god," I beseech thee, please PLEASE rapture your deluded,
ignorant, illiterate, moronic inbred followers so that the vast majority of the planet might be spared the eternal torment of their pychotic mass delusions. You can believe that I, a hard-hearted atheist who denies "you" even exist, would certainly revise that mistaken notion and be one of your most slavish devotees. Until they disappear, though, "you" are the figment of some imagination that should be curbed with haldol.

Blackwell: GOP Must Defeat Job-Creating Stimulus Because It Will Ruin GOP’s Election Chances
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/01/16/blackwell-blocks-jobs/

In an article published on Townhall today, RNC Chairman candidate and former Ohio governor Ken Blackwell urges congressional conservatives to oppose the reinvestment and recovery stimulus plan promoted by President-elect Obama. Though he offers standard conservative arguments against the plan — including a screed against the growth of “big government” — Blackwell seemed most concerned about the political benefit Democrats might see from successfully boosting the economy.

He warned that the bill, which calls for 80 percent job creation in the private sector, could create 600,000 new federal jobs — a problem because it would make it that much harder for for Republicans to win back Virginia:

While only a few details are known, one overlooked issue is that it could create a major electoral advantage for Democrats at taxpayer expense. That would be unacceptable for what is being touted as a nonpartisan measure, and gives Republicans yet another reason to oppose it if not restructured. <…>

8. Blackwell is more level-headed
I don't think he would actually pray, but he will be disappointed when the stimulus starts to work.

5. "raw and unlimited power of the central state."
They would LOVE to have a government based on the "raw and unlimited power of the central state." Just so long as their people were running the government, making the government a theocracy: ban pornography, mandatory school prayer, extermination of homosexuals, ban all abortion and birth control, women back in the kitchen.

10. Awesome, mind-numbing stupidity.
The scourge they are praying to avoid is one in which all power in the nation is focused on the Chief Executive and any form of check or balance on the "raw and unlimited power of the central state" is eliminated; in other words, the Fascist bush administration.

The multiple levels of idiocy here are striking. First, as mentioned above, bush has already done what they crazily think Obama will do. But beyond that, their remedy for the coming "evil campaign" that they somehow know is being launched is to telepathically "pray" to an invisible, all-powerful deity to intervene on their behalf and remake the universe the way they want it to be. Their god is to immediately do their bidding as soon as the orders/prayers are issued by them, apparently. He's kind of like their servant. What a cockeyed, 6-year-old child's idea of religion this is!

Once again. You cannot petition the Lord with prayer!

Come into their town and cause mayhem. When going to the local ATM or gas station is a life or death situation. These assholes have no clue as to what would happen even if the internet collapsed. No money, no gas, no groceries, sounds like lots of fun. Let them lose conciseness praying to their God.
