Remain Angry, Everyone!!
It is IMPERATIVE that we maintain our anger, and focus our vitriol on the remnants of the republican party. Like a cornered rat, these ingrates are NOT going to go quietly into the sunset. WHILE we have them down, we must still carry on with these campaigns.

1. Plan on 2010: We need to INCREASE the amount of Democrats in both the House and the Senate. In particular, our main goal is to reach 67 senators; pragmatically we need to reach 70 for an absolutely impenetrable Senate. We have a clear, unambiguous lead in the House, where only a majority is necessary to pass legislation and advance the progressive agenda, but the 67 number in the senate is special: THAT is when we can impeach Supreme Court Justices (and remove other federal judges), so we can then get rid of Thomas, Scalia, Alito, and Roberts, then replace them with younger, progressive justices....but STAY ANGRY AND FOCUSED UNTIL IT HAPPENS!

2. We NEED to advance, AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, TOMORROW IS NOT SOON ENOUGH, the new, improved version of the Fairness Doctrine. We MUST do all we can to shut down Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other hate-filled, abusive media entities. THIS WILL BE KEY IN ADVANCING THE PROGRESSIVE AGENDA....but STAY ANGRY AND FOCUSED UNTIL IT HAPPENS!

3. We MUST maintain our anger and vitriol on corporations and institutions which do not redirect their illicit profits toward preventing global warming. They are the scourges of the planet and we must...we MUST!!...do everything we can to legally remove the owners and officers of such companies, preferably under legal criminal prosecution, and to install citizen boards so that the companies can be nationalized for the people's benefit. That is EXTREMELY important, and progress must be done as soon as possible...but STAY ANGRY AND FOCUSED UNTIL IT HAPPENS!

4. We MUST maintain our anger and vitriol at the most despotic organization in the history of the world... the republican Party! We must do everything we can to prosecute the criminal entity, its officials, and even its supporters, and show the world that we mean business when we want to get back into their good graces...but STAY ANGRY AND FOCUSED UNTIL IT HAPPENS!

There is much to celebrate...but I prefer to remain angry....UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE! I suggest you do as well. Stay angry, everyone!

3. Sorry
Constant anger is unhealthy, and bad karma. One can keep up the fight without giving in to rage. I prefer to keep my anger in check.

4.  Screw Karma...
...as it doesn't matter one iota. What DOES matter is exposing and eliminating REAL hatred, and REAL violence.

In fact, if I do NOT stay angry, MY health DETERIORATES. So you can take a break for now, you all deserve it...

...but the republicans scumsuckers are NOT going to take a break. Keep in mind it's easier to dispose of someone when they are down, and NOT when they are at full health.

5. Oh, I agree, eliminating hatred and violence does matter.
And I never said that the fight was over or that a break should be taken from it. I'm only trying to say that full-on constant anger is not always the most practical or even wise mentality.

But please, do not deride my beliefs. You may not believe karma matters, but I do.

25. Thank you
And I mean that honestly. :)

I can see where you're coming from, and believe it or not, I say go with it! If anger is what motivates YOU, then by all means GET ANGRY! Use the anger, uses the passion, and channel it into something productive - just remember to do it intelligently. Don't let yourself become blinded by anger, or you risk losing everything you hope to gain.

And while I will not join you in the anger, don't think I'm not with you in your goals. My methods and driving forces aren't the same, but my objectives are. I firmly believe that karma will return to Bush and his regime everything that he forced upon our country and our world - if we're lucky, we can be the instruments that karma works through. ;)

9. If anger is all that can keep you focused, all right, but...
constant anger is bad for the health, brah. The repugs are vile vermin, true, but we don't have to be perpetually enraged if we discover cockroaches in our kitchen; just keep a watch for them and crush the disgusting little buggers when they creep into the light.

6. Where is this so called anger?
The average working stiff has been completely destroyed over the last eight years, and all you hear on the teevee is more right wing blather. No anger seen out here.

7. the other day DeMint said the GOP needs 'freedom fighters'
and referred to bipartisan Republicans as 'collaborators.' Could his attitude and intentions be any clearer?

The GOP will shit on and spoil everything they can. They will fuck up and foul up wherever they get the chance. Their only hope for 2010 is to make Dems fail at every turn. They must be ground into dust and entirely marginalized.

I prefer vigilance and counterattack to anger, but I agree: we can't take our eyes off these bastards for a second.

I think we need to keep the pressure on the republicans by calling their offices and letting them know where we stand. But what scares me is what Jeb Bush has said that the republicans need to run a shaddow government.

10. Anger has absolutely nothing to do with staying focussed and getting the job done.
That's a false premise that I reject no matter how many Caps are used to shout it. Anger, vitriol ("bitterly abusive feeling or expression"), and their sibling "hatred" are embraced by far too many here and they are poisons that apparently so many enjoy sipping like a fine wine. The world needs less of all of them.

11. Anger is appropriate in this case
For the dead. The tortured. The suddenly penniless. All the victims of these bastards.

I completely understand the emotion of the OP.

If you don't want to feel angry, fine. But don't allow yourselves to forget what's been done IN OUR NAME by these fucking criminals. Somewhere, sometime, somehow, someone you know or someone related to someone you know will be touched by the evil inherent in the actions of these people. It will, or has already touched all of us.

Arguments about relative kharma or physical damage from sustained anger are interesting, but I think somewhat beside the point of what the OP is talking about.

Maybe I'm wrong.

13. Not wrong, pretty much spot on.
Staying focused is one thing, but the ability to SUSTAIN that focus must be based in emotional, passionate feelings. To get rid of a scourge, and to focus on it's absolute destruction, in my case anger is not only appropriate, but integral to my preparation to the focus necessary to advance my dogmatic approach.

And to karma... as I disdain Christianity, I do understand the need for self-introspection and societal interaction. Indeed, my entire focus of my anger is to eliminate the threat of having those ideals removed through corporate and criminal malfeasance, perpetuated by the criminal republicanist mentality.

(And spare me the lame, "well watch out or my karma will run over your dogma" lunacy. Thanks.)

18. I agree to a point.
I mean, yes, the more we control the Senate the better, but should the end goal of controlling the Senate really be impeaching Supreme Court justices? On what grounds are we going to impeach them? Because we don't agree with their ideology?

And your new improved fairness doctrine: Will it only apply to Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Coulter? Do Olbermann, Maddow, Stewart and Colbert get to keep doing what they do?

I'm all for staying angry, continuing the fight, and beating the republicans into submission. But some of what you're suggesting borders on totalitarian. And that's bad no matter what side of the political spectrum it comes from.

21. Actually, yes, they WILL be able to stay on air...
...all we have to do is to get conservatives to balance them. But it doesn't say WHAT conservatives we have to select.

Besides, Joe Scarborough pretty much makes up the balance for MSNBC. I'm good with that.

28. Election Tampering, Breaking Oaths of Office
That is not a mere ideological difference. They took an oath to uphold the constitution, and then instead chose to install Bush, against the will of the people. What they did was completely partisan. It is this original crime that made all of the rest possible. That is why they should be impeached.

I agree with you- judges should not be impeached just because some disagree with them. Only if they break the law. The law says that we get to vote. They interfered with that right- with disastrous consequences. They used their offices to overthrow the will of the voters. Election tampering at the highest level of our court!

As to the "new improved" fairness doctrine: I don't think that anyone wants to strangle free speech. Of course the rules should apply to all equally. But, the truth is, the people own the airwaves, and we have a right to insist on balance.

Regarding totalitarianism: we are in a battle for our life as a nation against it. Totalitarianism and corporatism still control our airwaves. There is currently a huge bias, created by the fact that corporations believe freedom of speech should be defined by those who own the media, not those who own the airwaves. We have now seen what happens when we do not assert ownership of our own country. Allowing the market to drive without traffic laws leads to disaster. There need to be rules that ensure fair play. I think this refutation of deregulation is at the heart of the sea change we are now experiencing. The conservative philosophy that came in with Reagan has been proven to be a completely ineffective system. It doesn't work at all. The debate is over. We must use our mandate (a real one this time!) to restore balance and reason.

19. We should call them on
every piece of propaganda. Every time Wolf Blitzer or Lou Dobbs repeats a Republican talking point it should be refuted. We must challenge every single lie from every TV talking head. It is the misinformation campaign they waged that caused our damage and they are redoubling their efforts.

It's good that we document this stuff, share it among ourselves, and have answers ready.

But think how much dis-info was printed on Page One and later recanted on page 23. How many of those lies are still believed because they were shouted so much louder than the eventual truth?

Anger is the worst emotion to deal with, in my opinion.

It makes people not want to deal with you and you tend to make irrational judgments.

Feel free to be angry...I will not join you.
