Contradictions Appear in Rice's many different statements on 9/11 attack.
This week's testimony and media blitz by former White House counterterrorism chief Richard A. Clarke has returned unwanted attention to his former boss, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.

The refusal by President Bush's top security aide to testify publicly before the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks elicited rebukes by commission members as they held public hearings without her this week. Thomas H. Kean (R), the former New Jersey governor Bush named to be chairman of the commission, observed: "I think this administration shot itself in the foot by not letting her testify in public."

At the same time, some of Rice's rebuttals of Clarke's broadside against Bush, which she delivered in a flurry of media interviews and statements rather than in testimony, contradicted other administration officials and her own previous statements.

Contradictions Appear in Rice's many different statements on 9/11 attack.

2. Some Bush Supporters Want Rice to Testify
Some of President Bush's fellow Republicans said on Friday that he should let national security adviser Condoleezza Rice testify publicly to confront charges by a former aide that Bush was lax on terrorism ahead of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Republican are concerned about potential political damage to the president by the charges from Clarke. Bush is seeking a second term by running on his record as an anti-terror warrior.
One of the president's closest allies on Capitol Hill, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, gave a gentle nudge to Bush. He said he would support Bush's decision to stand on principle and not have Rice testify in public before a panel investigating the attacks.
But Frist added, "Personally, I think her voice is so good, so powerful that to have her come before the 9/11 commission publicly would be to the administration's benefit."
Other Republican officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, were more direct in saying that Rice should be allowed to give public testimony.

4. Bush hired her
cause he figured the press would be less likely to attack a BLACK woman.

5. He hired her because
she has extremely competent grasp of the cold war. The cold war ended in 1989 and, unfortunately for US, bushco had no clue. Now that new challenges face the nation, condi and the rest of bushco have no idea how to address them.

6. Condiment Rice has
caused problems for her boss in the past. Last July, there was that riveting development with Mr. Kelley in London who supposedly killed himself over the classified information about WMD's.

The melodrama took a sharp right turn as the Niger Uranium incident became a scandal in England. The name Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame actually became news over there first.

The public outrage grew louder and louder until the noise headed due west, to the Administration in Washington. News of the uranium scandal his Bush broadside, as he was preparing to leave for a tour of Africa.

It's pretty clear he was not prepared for the onslaught. There were some interesting incidents with reporters on the tour.

Meanwhile, back at home, CON-di was left "home alone" to face the reporters and explain herself. She pointed the finger of blame squarely at George Tenet. "He vetted the information in the SOTU speech".

And for good measure, she showed her loyalty to her employees by including her speechwriter, Steven Hadley, to share in the blame.

She also threw in some inconsistencies, which she's now become famous for. The development, which was incredibly amusing, showed her backtracking, rescinding some parts of what she'd said, and explaining a few others, and generally stammering and stuttering and just getting deeper and deeper into the shit.

So for weeks afterwards, the press wrote about how she had embarrassed her boss, and would he take her back? Or would he fire her? Maybe he should have unloaded her then.

In any case, this "show" has been very entertaining. I've quit buying the Enquirer. The Soap Opera at the White House is the best.

7. She'd better give herself time to get her lie straight if she does testify
Man, she's sure mucked things up. It's hard to believe she was Clarke's boss. Sounds like she prevented him from doing his job.

8. Fried Rice
She is incompetent and a liar. She is also an incompetent liar.
I can't get to upset that she is incompetent at lying because in a way that is her best quality. If she were a great liar that would mean that she is most likely a sociopath like gw bush and cheney.

9. she seems to be the classic
"educated idiot"
long on book learning and giving the correct answers in a classroom setting to get to the top - short on practical application of what works in the real world with real people.

11. Point well taken...
I never could quite figure out what Rice was doing in the administration -- and in such a key position. Her background didn't really fit: the Cold War? Tripled up with Rumsfeld and Powell, that made three key administration figures who were not up to speed on asymmetrical low-intensity conflicts. But as the media kept pointing out early on, Bush liked her and "felt comfortable" with her. How sweet, how reassuring. Those are great attributes when picking a lab partner or a partner for a summer rental share, but not necessarily a National Security Advisor.
