Pleasant Surprises, So Far, About Race
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 09:58 AM by Stingo
Having recently adopted transracially, an adorable black boy who is celebrating his 21st day today, I’ve been expecting signs of racial unease on some faces. So far, in the grocery and even in the Big Box consumer mecca Babys R Us, we’ve only encountered adoration of Jack. The fears put into us by social workers seem unfounded so far.

1. The real issue would be if an AA family tried to adopt a white kid, that's where the wife and I ran
...into looks by social workers.

2. I'm amazed it could ever happen
Not that I view America as so racist, but the supply of babies means waiting far longer for a white baby. Sad fact, but true.
