Lamborn offers bill to keep Gitmo detainees from coming to Colorado

A Coloradan congressman doesn't want to see any Guantanamo Bay detainees relocated to Colorado — not even to the Supermax facility in Florence.

On Tuesday, Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, introduced a bill that would prohibit the use of any funds to transfer enemy combatants currently being held at Guantanamo to the high-security Florence Federal Correctional Complex in Colorado.

Lamborn said he doesn't know how much support he will get for his bill, but noted that representatives from Kansas and California are also considering similar bills because prisons in those two states have also been mentioned as possible locations where the Guantanamo Bay detainees may go.Lamborn said he doesn't know where enemy combatants should go, if not to military or civilian prisons in the U.S. "That's up to the president," he said. "It was his idea to close Guantanamo."

2. fear, fear, fear
terror, terror, terror. not for a split second do they ever consider what it must be like to be locked up like an animal for years with no end point in sight, possibly not even knowing why, possibly tortured (as if being locked up isn't most people's idea of a living death). i deplore the mindset that implies that "we" are somehow better and more deserving of "them" - they seem to forget that "they" are human beings, more like "we" are than different.

it's pathetic, and sickening.

3. I guess we'll just "have" to take them at Boscobel
I have this funny feeling the Feds will actually pay money to house these prisoners.

In a state as ramped up in the prison business as Wisconsin is, I think those dollars are gonna be welcome.
