Former VP Cheney: Sometimes You Just Have to Cringe
By The Editorial Board

Most presidents and vice presidents refrain from attacking their successors after they leave office, especially on highly sensitive matters — like, say, the safety of the nation. At the very least, they wait until they write their inevitable, usually tedious, memoir.

Not Dick Cheney. He didn’t wait even a month ...

After reading the interview, we found ourselves wishing Mr. Cheney would simply retire and stay out of the public eye ...

1. He's a threat to the country.
His irresponsible fear mongering and interference in the policies of the new administration put this country at risk.

I seriously believe some sort of cease and desist order should be filed against him.

2. I think he should be taken into custody
and interrogated. If he's so f***ing smart, let's find out what he knows.
What if one of us threatened terrorism?

15. I'm worried about how far he'll go to prove a point . . .
he's certifiable & certainly has the connections, money, and influence to make just about anything happen. If it looks like he's going to be prosecuted, to what extent will his administration go to cover their collective ass?

5. Did you see the dumbass first comment?
"Let’s remember that Bill Clinton did not waste much time after leaving office to criticize President Bush publicly. Mr. Cheney was just following the precedent left by his predecessor.

David"

16. LOL ... unintentional (perhaps) Freudian slip by that poster ...
surely Gore was Cheney's predecessor. Wasn't Clinton succeeded by the other guy?

23. That's been the excuse for * and Crashcart for years:
Standard Freeptard response to criticism of the *- misadministration:

"Oh yeah? Oh yeah? Well Clinton did the same or worse!!!!!"

It's always the fault of the Clenis, eventually.

6. Cheney should just spend his remaining days rolling his wheelchair down his giant mountain of $$.
Like Scrooge McDuck. Until his diseased ticker finally gives out.

He should have gotten the news in November that we really don't give a shit what he or his benighted party think anymore.

8. Mary Matalin called him, "this great man" on a St. Tim BS fest.
I've a different opinion.

Cheney's a crank. He & his pal Rumsfeld, both. Hideous people. Enemies of progress.

It seems to me John Birch Society types like this used to be fringe. For a while there, they were mainstream.

A significant number of people went along with it. Weird.

12. Oh my god...
So Cheney is actually admitting out loud that this is what their administration did?

"because he doesn’t want to torture prisoners, violate the Geneva Conventions, and ignore the Constitution and federal law."

18. Yeah, weird, huh...
First they said they didn't do it.

Then they said they may or may not have, but it wasn't really torture anyway.

Now they're saying not only did they do it, but it WAS torture.

I hope someone keeps a copy of that interview to use against him for War Crimes.

17. Just wondering why
the news media are still giving air time to this insect.

I saw part of the interview on CNN this morning, especially the part where he claims that terrorists are mean, nasty, dirty, evil people and virtually poo-poohed the idea that we're more vulnerable to domestic terror than to foreign terror.

OMG...can't give anyone the false impression that white Americans would do shit against their own countrymen! Nooooo...it's those evil, smelly, dirty BROWN people with funny-sounding names from other countries!!!

Earth to Satan! Earth to Satan!

that his back injury at the Inauguration was faked. Cheney preferred looking like Dr. Strangelove to standing and showing respect to a new President.

Cheney doesn't get PDB's. And if Bush every gets one they can put big words in it so he doesn't have any idea what it says.

26. I have been wondering what is up with the repubs
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 03:23 AM by ribrepin
I think they are trying to establish a shadow government. The didn't like the results of the election so Cheney's now the commander-in-chief, and the speaker of house is not Nancy Polosi but that other guy. The senate is being run by Mitch McConell.

This is sure the way they are trying to go and our media is right there to help them. I predict in six months, fox news will be consulting the members of the shadow government speak on behalf of the United States and CNN won't be far behind.

Edited to add...Bill Clinton was just warm-up.
