Americans disapprove of Republican effort on Stimulus bill
According to a Gallup poll released yesterday, only 31% of Americans approve of the efforts of Congressional Republicans on the Stimulus bill. 58% of Americans disapprove of Republicans in Congress on the issue.

President Barack Obama's approval rating for work on the economic stimulus bill is high at 67%. Only 25% of Americans disapprove of his work on the bill.

The poll reflects a trend in positive sentiment towards President Obama by Americans. In a Gallup poll on February 4, more than half of Americans responded that they had more confidence in President Obama's ability to manage the federal government than they did before the inauguration.

It's clear that the American public has confidence in President Obama's Stimulus bill. And it is just as clear that Americans disapprove of the way their Republican representatives in Congress have acted or not acted on the Stimulus recovery bill.

Go here to read the entire article. Please leave comments. It helps me fight the GOP trolls.

2. You're either with us, or agin us.
Seems like there is a certain portion of American society that is against doing what's good for America. My guess is that the majority of them are registered as Republicans.

3. Yep,
They are the diehard republicans that listen to Limabaugh, Hannity, Colter, etc. and can't think for themselves. Even though many many face layoffs, may lose their homes, or have a health problem in the future that could wipe them out financially, they still can't see what is going on, they have to be told how to think by the idiots who are on talk radio.

4. I'm thinking the 31% are the party base
And you would think they'd know that their right wing fringe base can't win them elections by now.

5. Here's what I wrote...
"Obstructing the effort of the commander in chief to stop the collapse of our economic security in a time of war only serves to empower the enemy."

6. I saw that and my reaction was, "oh, snap!"
I really appreciate that because I have a permanent troll plus a couple of part timers that will post something ridiculous, uninformed and inflammatory.

7. I wonder what the numbers are in Alabama...
60/40 pro-Repubs/anti-Obama? That was about the election margin here.

8. I think the split is worse than that
Unless you live in Birmingham, Montgomery or the black belt counties.

9. You're right. Does the GOP think it can win with its right wing base?

11. That 31% of the country constitutes a huge majority
of GOP primary voters. And the Limbaugh/Fox axis of raw meat providers make a lot of money off of the blockheadedness of this bloc.

Demographics is turning the GOP into a regional party of ignoramuses. Within their ranks, if you try to talk sense, you will just lose the next primary election. So Republicans in the House and Senate will continue to do what they have been doing for more than a generation -- play to angry white males and their co-dependents who believe rather than think.

It does not matter whether their "politics" prevails as it did under Reagan and the Bushes or whether it gets its ass kicked as it did with the impeachment of Clinton and now in the face of a Great Depression. The GOP "conservative base" knows only one way to relate to public affairs: Liberals are wrong. Case Closed.

Obama saw how time has run out on The Angry White Male -- and all the rest of us can do is hope that it did not happen too late to save the Republic from ruin.
