Outlook for Dems is Gray skies all day

THE MOST frightening aspect of the upcoming recall vote on Gov. Gray Davis isn't that it threatens to spin California's government deeper into chaos, could spur similar referendums in the future or that it might send an ideological extremist to Sacramento.
No, the scariest part of the recall drive is that because Davis is the target, he's allowed to raise an unlimited amount of money from individuals, corporations and unions . . . .
Davis has been running for office for so long, he forgot one of the little steps that are supposed to take place between campaigns -- governing. And now he's in a place where the more he does the one thing he's peerless at -- squeezing donations from fat cats -- the more he reminds voters why they can't stand him.
