Earth to Lieberman: Get Real
Please note that The Mahablog is firmly committed to supporting whatever the Democrats nominate next year, be it animal, vegetable, or mineral, because the goal is to beat Bush. I am not endorsing any candidate. However, I do wish Joe Lieberman would quit already.

Lieberman is still telling his fellow Dems that they had better support the war in Iraq or they will look soft on terrorism. At a press conference last week he said,

"But by their words, some in my party threaten to send a message that they don't know a just war when they see it and, more broadly, are not prepared to use our military strength to protect our security and the cause of freedom."

Um, Joe? Read a newspaper now and then, OK? We're way past the "just war" argument. We're into the "stupid war" argument. And by now anybody with a brain has figured out that Iraq, security, and freedom are not words that should be shoveled into the same sentence without a lot of qualifiers to kill the odor. 1. Just a question to any Lieberman supporters
When you watch him speak, does he excite you?

I ask because I have tried to be fair to him and listen to his ideas, but when I watch him, he just zaps me of all energy. Even when he is talking about something that he really believes in, there is just no fire there.

Please do not take this as an attack; I just wonder if I am missing something.

4. THANK you!
Joe just sucks the energy out of any crowd when he opens his yap. He's got a drony, sing-song voice that goes down at the end of every sentence...

I disagree with Joe on nearly every issue, but I will support him IF he is the nominee.

But in 72 I did the same for McGovern...McGovern (unlike Joe) was a great candidate with good ideas in every way but one--he was a terrible speaker (like Joe).

Three days before the election George arrived at a crowd of ten thousand excited energized Democrats in Brooklyn by helicopter...and by the time he finished his speech we were five thousand very subdued Democrats.

10. I laugh too, Joe reminds me of the couple on Saturday Night Live
who had DIVERTICULITIS, and they would always get in a line somewhere and then moan and drone on...

3. Why do I feel like he'll vote for Bush rather than Dean?
I respect Lieberman in many ways but, in the end, he seems more loyal to his conservative ideology than to the Democratic Party.
