5. to be fair, fecal bacteria can be found just about anywhere humans live...

...and gather, unless some pretty strict antibiotic measures are adhered to. This story makes sensational headlines, but I GUARANTEE that a check of the author's kitchens would likely turn up higher concentrations of intestinal bacteria than most soda fountains. Mine certainly would, and so would just about everyone else's.

9. My daughter did a science fair project in high school, testing several areas water supply, they ALL

had fecal matter, just different amounts. Our city water was the worst, niece's pond water was the best.

I get pop from fountains quite a bit. I have to drink pop with ice--otherwise I get the hiccups and I
love my Diet Coke.

Our family owned a bunch of fast-food restaurants, and I drank at least 5 Diet Cokes daily when I was
working. I can't even recall having a stomach flu.

If this is so common--you wonder why there isn't more sickness? You would think that half of the people
who work at malls would be sick most of the time.

I quit drinking fountain drinks years ago for that very reason. Those machine are nasty. Even if they clean them, they don't really clean the tubes and such. That grows bacteria. And since everyone comes up and self serves, you have all those hands on everything.

If I drink a cola, it is in can from the cola manufacturer.

I don't drink anything but water in restaurants.

before drinking from it? Or do you pour it into a sanitized glass?
