1. Hmmm, with the unrec already going, apparently some here feel it's not worth their attention, either
However, as someone who had to earn an extra degree, keep my fulltime job, start a parttime business, and reduce my standard of living during that exact time, it is of interest to me.

For some 25 years now, the emphasis has been off production (which is what Adam Smith, the father of economics, said makes a country rich) and has been misplaced onto profits (for the few.)

This hasn't worked out yet, but is beginning to. Unfortunately, it involves ruined lives for millions of ordinary people while a few "winners" get to laugh and point at the rest of us.

I really think it will come down to violence in the end, since the system has lost all ability to correct...

2. Speaking as a recovering Republican I know that this kind of info is VERY unpopular in GOP
circles. Right now they are putting great effort into focussing everyones attention on how Obama and Dems are doing with the economy and (believe it or not) trying to get people to forget HOW the economy got so F%#@*-ed up!

I also know that there was considerable talk (don't know if it was official or unofficial in instigation) of people invading DU (a much hated site among the GOP) to do to DU what was done at the many Health Care reform meetings. That is, interfere with discussion and debate by just attacking those who raised points that GOP-ers most dislike hearing. And also by repeating GOP positions in hopes of making it seem as if there are those outside GOP who think the same way they do. Open discussion and testing of ideas is something foreign (and even suspicious) in the GOP. That's what they are all about preserving a doctrine of little to no change. They (I almost said "we", ouch!) don't like anything that make them feel uncomfortable.
