My God! What Is Dick Cheney Hiding?

All day today, Fox News was telling 'Merika about how the underpants bomber should have been handed over to the military for torture.

And we've heard that since Christmas from Dick and Liz Cheney, and how Obama and the Dems just don't "get it."

Let me climb out on a limb here and speculate:

1.Dick did something very very wrong
2.Clearly it involved torture, or he and Liz would not be yammering about "torture" all the time.
3.He needs the current administration to endorse torture, thus making Dick's actions OK. That's why Dick demands Obama embrace torture as the answer to everything.
4.Probably there were a number of deaths involved. A few deaths can be written off as freak accidents, like the next dozen people that will die from Tasers, or the result of a few bad apples. So it would seem that we are talking about dozens of deaths, or something along the lines of the rape, mutilation, or boiling of suspects' children.
5.Lots and lots of people in DC seem to have a sense of what deep shit the Cheney's are in, or the Cheneys would not be getting endless hours of air time trying to save their asses.
bernardpliers's diary :: :: As long as we are warmed up, let's speculate a little further

6.Liz's work in the Middle East may give Liz a personal stake in this also. She sure seems motivated. She handed out tens of millions of dollars, and she would have been one of the few people that Dick trusted.
7.The Cheney's personal profit from Haliburton may have led them to do things for personal gain, not just God and country. Wouldn't you?
Seymour Hersh described Cheney running a covert "executive assassination ring." But Hersh's evidence seemed as elusive as the Obama "Whitey" tape. And now we have Erik Prince claiming that hit squads were being trained without the CIA's knowledge, which was mentioned last week on the Rachel Maddow show.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...
It has also been said that these assassination squads weren't limited to Iraq, and they tried to make a "hit" in Germany on a German citizen. Was this the operation Hersh referred to, and was Cheney in charge?

Finally, every time Dick Cheny or Liz opens their pie hole, it becomes more and more clear that George Bush was not calling the shots. You can hear W. say "I don't want to know anything about it,just do what needs to be done," while Cheney snarls "That's what I do sir," while muttering to himself "....you worthless prat."

I have a theory. They brought back the MKULTRA Manchurian candidate program. That's why they released people from Gitmo.

2. I have no filter when it comes to Cheney...
I truly believe he would have been capable of anything... Thus, I can't be objective when I read these theories. I wonder if we will ever know the truth....

21. Same here.
I really can't even process the idea of a person being as deeply evil as cheney, with no morals or scruples whatsoever. This is usually the stuff of legend and lore.

4. Notice how Cheney pops up just before Obama has a major speech or event
and how Obama then toughens his language? Notice Obama wore a "flag pin" when he gave his speech last week on the findings about the Detroit Bomber?

I've found that odd.

9. President Obama might have worn a flag
pin. But his flag pin is rather small, proving his level of patriotism is low. This is what one would expect to see in a Communist, Fascist, non-torturer, stealth Muslim bent on destroying the nation-a small flag pin. It's also probably made in China.

6. I think you're correct. Obama is protecting him. Not an opinion you need to hide from....
The question is, "Why?" I don't think it's too "tinfoil" to believe he's been threatened.

20. The US has no moral underpinning....
...no kind of expose would offend those with no morals?

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article24363.htm

But why it is so hard for Muslims to "get" that message? Why can't they end their preoccupation with dodging U.S. missiles in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Gaza long enough to reflect on how we are only trying to save them from terrorists while simultaneously demonstrating our commitment to "justice and progress"?

Does a smart fellow like Obama expect us to believe that all we need to do is "communicate clearly to Muslims" that it is al Qaeda, not the U.S. and its allies, that brings "misery and death"? Does any informed person not know that the unprovoked U.S.-led invasion of Iraq killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and displaced 4.5 million from their homes? How is that for "misery and death"?

Rather than a failure to communicate, U.S. officials are trying to rewrite recent history, which seems to be much easier to accomplish with the Washington press corps and large segments of the American population than with the Muslim world.

.....

An unusually candid view of the dangers accruing from the U.S. identification with Israel's policies appeared five years ago in an unclassified study published by the Pentagon-appointed U.S. Defense Science Board on Sept. 23, 2004. Contradicting President George W. Bush, the board stated:

"Muslims do not ‘hate our freedom,' but rather, they hate our policies. The overwhelming majority voice their objections to what they see as one-sided support in favor of Israel and against Palestinian rights, and the longstanding, even increasing support for what Muslims collectively see as tyrannies, most notably Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, and the Gulf States.

"Thus, when American public diplomacy talks about bringing democracy to Islamic societies, this is seen as no more than self-serving hypocrisy."

Sometime around 2035. People will dismiss it as sheer fantasy.
