If you thought there was too much big money and too much special interest pandering in politics before, you ain't seen nothing yet. The United States Supreme Court has just opened the flood gates for wholesale buying and selling of federal elections ...

A gross perversion of the Golden Rule — who has the gold makes the rules — will be the result.

Perhaps the single biggest factor breeding voter cynicism about politics and government in America is the undue influence special interests already exercise in public decision making. As a result of this radical court ruling, special interests — big banks, big oil, big labor and the like — will now be limited only by their checkbooks in their ability to dominate the public agenda.

... We fear for the future of representative democracy.

1. You know, it's odd.

I haven't been to a church (well, except as a courtesy to those I was visiting) since 1991.

Yet Matthew 6:7 sprang to mind.

Now, the editorialists also have a point. But they also get to show that they're simply disinterested conversants in this discussion.
