a simple majority vote will decide. THis approach, which the Corporate Lobbyist Party finds unconcionable NOW, they used to pass tax cuts for the wealthiest among us, thus decreasing the buying power of most Americans...which helped contribute to this Republican Dystopia the Democrats are now trying to fix.
Boehner repeats another Big Lie, saying Americans are against Government "taking over" health care. Really Mr. Boehner? I guess people are thrilled that Wellpoint is increasing Health insurance premiums double digits in 11 of the 14 states they are selling insurance in. My insurance rates went up 15% this year.
THINK ABOUT IT. IF, ON AVERAGE, EVERYONE GETS 15% RATE INCREASES FOR 3 YEARS YOUR INSURANCE WILL COST YOU 50% MORE -- ] IN THREEE YEARS.
NOW, MR. BOEHNER, HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD INSURANCE THAT IS 50% HIGHER, HUH? WHAT'S YOUR GUESS, 30%, 40%, 50%???
So how many people are FOR Health Care Reform then, forget about polls with slanted questions. Just ask people, can you afford to pay 50% more for your health insurance. Ask people THAT!!
Boehner and the other Corporate Lobbyists are saying people don't want the Government "controlling health care". WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT REALLY MEAN?.... WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?
Republicans are FOR national competition by insurance companies. Republicans are for letting competition between insurers bring down the cost of insurance. To accomplish both of these objectives you need a national regulator (to take over the regulation of insurnce companies currently done by states) and a effective price competition among insurers - something which cannot be achieved UNLESS YOU HAVE INSURERS OFFER A STANDARD PLAN (offering the same coverages) EASILY COMPARED BY THE CONSUMER.
EVERYBODY WANTS THE INSURANCE COMPANIES TO STOP DENYING CARE BASE UPON PRE-EXISTING CONTITIONS. WELL, IF YOU DO NOT WANT HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES TO USE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS AS A MEANS OF DENYING HEALTH CARE - THEN YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT COIN - WHICH IS EVERYBODY IS IN THE RISK POOL (i.e. Everybody has to buy insurance)- THERE CAN NO MORE BE THIS GAMBIT OF "OH, I'M NOT GOING TO BUY INSURANCE 'UNTIL I NEED IT'. NO IT WON'T WORK THAT WAY. IF INSURANCE COMPANIES CAN'T USE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, THEN EVERYBODY MUST BE IN THE RISK POOL. THIS IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S REQUIREMENT - THIS IS THE INSURANCE COMPANIES REQUIREMENT.
The other part of "governmetn control" of health care is the feature where the Government sets up basic coverage that all insurance companies have to provide to everyone. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE SAID THEY ARE FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES COMPETING ACROSS STATE LINES - IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE MORE COMPETITION. WELL, YOU CAN NOT ACIEVE EFFECTIVE PRICE COMPETITION UNLESS YOU HAVE COMPARABLE PRODUCTS. THE WAY IT IS NOW YOU CAN ONLY COMPARE THE PLANS OFFERED BY THE VARIOUS INSURANCE COMPANIES IF YOU HAVE A SUPER COMPUTER TO HELP YOU. THIS DOES NOT FOSTER PRICE COMPETITION.
YOU MUST HAVE COMPARABLE PRODUCTS TO FACILITATE CONSUMERS COMPARING THEM AS TO COST IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE REAL PRICE COMPETITION AMONG COMPETING COMPANIES. NOW TO ACHIEVE STANDARDIZED HEALTH COVERAGE PRODUCTS YOU HAVE TO HAVE ONE REFEREE COME UP WITH A STANDARD, BASIC PLAN WHICH ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES WOULD OFFER SO THAT THE CONSUMER CAN READILY COMPARE THE VARIOUS INSURANCE POLICIES AS TO COST. THAT REFEREE WOULD BE THE FEDERAL GEOVERNMENT. FURTHERMORE, IF INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE COMPETING ACROSS STATE LINES, YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY ONE STATE REGULATE THE INSURANCE COMPANIES AS THEY DO NOW. SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER THE REGULATION REPONSIBILITIES FROM THOSE CURRENTLY HANDLED BY THE STATES. SO, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE COMPETITION ACROSS STATE LINES, TO ACHIEVE EFFECTIVE PRICE COMPETITION - YOU NEED A NATIONAL REGULATOR AND YOU HAVE TO DETERMINE A BASIC PLAN THAT ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES MUST OFFER. THIS REFEREE/REGULATOR WOULD BE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
THIS NEED FOR A NATINAL REFEREE REGULATING INSURANCE COMPANIES COMPETING ON IN NATIONAL MARKET-PLACE, AND THE NEED FOR AN AGENCY TO SET A STANDARD BASIC PLAN THAT ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES MUST OFFER (TO FACILITATE COMPETITION THROUGH EASY COST COMPARISONS OF PRODUCTS) REQUIRES SOME AGENCY TO BE THE NATIONAL REGULATOR AND TO ESTABLISH WHAT COVERAGES ARE NEEDED IN A STANDARD HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY. THE OBVIOUS CHOICE FOR THIS NATINAL REGULATOR AND ARBITER OF WHAT WOULD GO INTO A STANDARED PLAN IS THE COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE TO BE INSURED ....REPRESENTED BY -- THE FEDERAL GOVERNEMT.
