Podcast Recommendation: America's "Empire of Illusion"

A recent episode of Allan Greg in Conversation from TVO features Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges discussing his new book "Empire of Illusion." I haven't read the book yet but I now plan to. In this 30 minute podcast Hedges discusses the decline of American culture and the American economy and why American's are largely in denial about both.

He looks at everything from corporate culture and President Obama, porn, wrestling and celebrity culture and how these reflect and perpetuate the ability of Americans to pretend that their decline is not occurring. It looks at Americans illusions about the economy, debt, war, global warming and the culture of me (why community and self-sacrifice, the very traits needed in the US right now, have vanished.)
