Last year my Big 10 university had a horrible football season, sort of like this administrations term. The difference though is that the football coach had to have a press conference after each game, which I believe alone would put him over 9 total. Most of the conferences got pretty ugly towards the end of the season, with reporters asking such hard hitting questions as how a coach can have a star QB with a coke problem and still claim he has control of the team. I don't think the coach called any of the reporters by their first names or any nick names he thought they'd like.
Anyways, to get to my point, it seems that the coach of my football team had to answer more directly to the people (local fans, students and alumni) than my president. Also note, we have a new coach this year.
