Billionaire funds group to unite Dems, oust Bush
By Thomas Hargrove
Tribune Reporter

WASHINGTON - New York billionaire George Soros has given $10 million to create a large Democratic organize-the-vote group that will target New Mexico and 16 other battleground states in next year's presidential elections.

skip..........

"The fate of the world depends on the United States, and President Bush is leading us in the wrong direction. The Bush doctrine is both false and dangerous," Soros said. "The rest of the world is having an allergic reaction to it, as we have seen in Iraq. We need to change direction. It is for this reason that I am supporting Americans Coming Together . . . to mobilize civil society, to convince people to go to polls and vote for candidates who will reassert the values of the greatest open society in the world."

Malcolm said the group will raise at least $75 million but will not use the funds for attack-style television advertisements.

"In fact, we are not doing any media. This is all a ground operation," she said. "This is a voter contact program that is going to use personal contact, mail and the phones. But no electronic media."

1. God Love Him
Boros and Warren Buffet should buy a t.v. network. That would be the perfect way to get our message out

I could find time from my cab job to do this or get my fares to vote.

Edit: Florida is one of the battleground states.
