Two Reasons the Obama Victory in Arizona Immigration Lawsuit is Good for Democrats


Ever since the Court handed President Obama's Justice Department a big victory by enjoining the enforcement of major provisions of the onerous Arizona "papers please" immigration law, there has been pundit commentary that the decision will be bad for swing Democrats.

Of course, that analysis ignores that the ruling came from a judge who -- though appointed by President Clinton -- was originally nominated by Arizona's Republican Senator Kyl who has praised her as a fair jurist. And the decision will also likely cause a number of moderate supporters of the bill around the country to rethink their positions.

1. While I of course applaud the decision, it isn't going to help Arizona Dems

Someone needs to get in there and do an all out effort for terry Goddard. He was absolutely slated to win till Brewer signedf SB1070. In AZ we need emphasis taken OFF immigration and onto JOBS.

That really isn't any kind of Democratic position. Tyhe real point is that SB1070 cost us jobs and ruined our economy and it still boils down to its the economy stupid.

The democrats may solidfy the hispanic vote and pick up a few more but I believe it will be more than offset by losing blue collar votes .People who are more democrat voters for economic reasons than idelogical ones .IMHO

No I am a progressive and have a progressive point of view. It is the conservatives that want to bring in more illegal aliens to fill their fields and factories with workers. I would like to see that Americans get those jobs!

7. Obama is doing the right thing with this repugnant immigration law, and

Republicans are throwing themselves down the sewer politically too. The Hispanic vote overwhelmingly will go to Obama like never before.

And he needs them too, as his policies regarding labor unions are far from stellar.
